I like the trade but doubt it would ever happen. I like because of the possible lineup of nelson/jj/turk/odom/howard. BUT before trading rashard i would like to but him at his NATURAL position, 3 along side a real PF. He is playing out position and I truly believe that is what is hurting his play. I don't want to trade him yet and although it may be harder to trade the longer we wait I personally rather wait to make that decision. Cant we just trade to get a real pf, I dont think we need a r. wallace type(would cost too much) or even a major point contributor, just someone to help with defense and bring rebounds and put backs. seriously though i would trade for the likes of big baby right now for likes of carlos and garrity? dont do not assisinate me but i am at work(in the military) and dont have the time to check to see if it works but just a hard nosed pf that wants to be a team player. isnt boston in need of expiring contracts?

If Otis and SVG thinks that another PG would be more beneficial to the team, then Dwight needs to deal with it. This isn't high school. Don't get me wrong I agree with you 100% but I think the magic organization will do WHATEVER it takes to make sure that they do not have the same thing(not exact same but you get the point) that happened with the last great big man. Yes dwight would get over it and yes he just signed an extension but jameer is not THAT bad. he has good nights and bad nights. Dwight is grown and would most likely get over it but who are we to play with fire when we have something good. just work around it. you have pieces of something great here and that includes nelson. he can be a good pg. we have dwight, no need to elaborate. we have turk who once we get battie back or another good pf will be a great 6th man(yes i know he is "outplaying" rashard" but you don't not start rashard. we are having a bad streak but is our record that bad? did we not beat the "almighty" celtics? I would personally like a different pg(calderon, just anyone taller) that way I feel we could play jj more but jameer is our starting pg on our team that has done well so far. dont give up on anyone just ye. we have expendable pieces I just dont feel nelson is one of them.

I rather keep nelson because in all honesty we are building around howard and well that will ALWAYS include nelson. the trade value although we might get something good in return, the detriment to the main part of our team, howard, would be lasting to say the least. i don't think sauce is not bright he is just not a fan of the orlando magic. because if he was he would not have anything negative to say about any orlando magic players. now if we had someone holding out for a ridiculous amount of money than maybe yes but rashard is not(although i kind of wish he would not have signed that offer and told otis that he was willing to sign for less)but he is not ball hogging nor is he doing anything to directly hurt the team(drama, off-court incidents, etc).

I would have liked to also see what darko could have done next to dwight BUT I don't know if you guys watch highlights from the grizzlies last game, darko still looked lost on defense and it was so bad they pointed it out and were still picking at him. he still has yet to develop. would he been able to better with dwight, possibly but right now his development on int. defense and rebounds from the pf position(which is what we need most in my opinion) we would not get from darko.

I think our biggest problem is that we don't have a true pf that we can count on. Don't get me wrong, the last thing I am doing is complaining BUT I really think if we have a pf that could provide us tough rebounds and defense we would be better off starting them and bring turk off the bench or maybe even start turk in place of bogans.(nelson/turk/lewis/pf/howard.) I still think though that it is to early to panic like others were saying. We had a long road trip and were very successful. home victories will come. more important are the road victories and we are doing well in that catagory. maybe i am off cause i don't get to catch many games live(but i guess everyone is having that same problem even in orlando) but regardless i think we are still doing alot better than most would have expected so far and well I felt on top of the world when we beat the unbeatable celtics. I know this a discussion board but as a magic fan, I really have no complaints.

No. Dwight is not complaining too much. I could mention a number of reasons why he has ALL THE RIGHT to voice his conern to the refs but I will only name a few: -There are cheaps shots that are not called on him. -There are cheap shots that are not called on his teammates(he is the court leader so he takes it upon himself to voice his opinion to the refs if not for them with them) -If he was a guard(ie: Wade, lebron, kobe) he would get EVERY SINGLE CALL. The answer is No. I only catch a couple of games out here cause I am in the military on AFN and well I can't just be sitting around watching tv all day you know?! But for the games that i have been able to see he has the right. What if he gets hurt, like they did lebron? hard foul, yes it got called but.. out for days. we have been blessed so far that he has not been injured. I am not trying to be a snappy but Dwight is a beast and everyone knows that. Dominating everyone. They know they are out matched so what do they do? They play dirty. is it part of the game? you decide but if they are going to do that and the ref DO NOT CALL IT? Then YES he has the right to VOICE HIS CONCERN. Go MAGIC!

What is this blasphemy that you speak of?!?! Life without Manchild Howard! But in answering your question possibly 8th place but that would be the end of it. I am just SO glad we got him instead of that guy on the bobcats team that was supposed to be more "nba ready".

i really like what got going on here and I think ariza should be our starting sg. maybe he is out of position as i believe he is more of a forward but starting jameer/ariza/shard/turk/dwight and then back them up with carlos/jj/bogans/gortat/battie. there is no time that all five starters are out unless it is a blowout soit is really just having those 5 on the cout to start and then make ADJUSTMENTS!!! i really wish we could have done more ADJUSTMENTS last year. I think we would have done alot better.

He did not add dwight's re-signing, period. are off-season was a roller coaster from the get go but c-? that is harsh. but we do we care about what he thinks? we knew long before media and everyone else knew about our last coach so we know what is really going to help AND hurt our team. the only REAL loss was darko and we have signed foyle and gortat. i could care less about g. hill that whole situation makes me sick. we added a real coach and a serious scorer AND RESIGNED THE BEST YOUNG BIG MAN IN THE GAME!!!!! I would give an A but that would be being bias and I am better than that........ so A+ sounds good to me, what about you guys?! GO MAGIC!!!!

Ok. Seriously this may not happen but like chosen said earlier with the exception of, dwight, jj, lewis, give them whatever they want. dwight/oneal/lewis/jj/whatever pg we dont give up?! seriously, oneal may cry but he puts up numbers and if he did not have to work as hard as he has had to in indiana he would stay healthy AND continue to put up the numbers we would need. and yes dwight is better than oneal but we are not considering trading dwight for him, he would go along side him and lewis and any team would have a serious problem with our big 3. don't be blind to just not like the guy. i am also not blind to say this will definitely happen but why NOT make the phone call.

I wonder though, and I not trying to start any thing. Our last coach yes he was in charge and everything but do you think as the "on-the-floor" leader that Nelson could have done things slightly different than what our last coach asked? I know that probably is not the right thing to do especially as it might cause confusing but think about it...(1) our star's best friend(dwight); (2)as far as what i have heard on this board otis choice of a pg. So with those two things in his pocket do you think he could/should have stepped up as leader and said look this is what we are really going to do. I mean what was our last coach going to do? Sit him out forever? not with otis and dwight there. And it is not like EVRRYONE ELSE could not see that what our last coach was doing was not working. It NEVER worked, not even like a little. So to take control of the team on the court(the pg's job in my opinion) would that have wrong? Besides that probably would have got our last coach fired sooner than he was, do you think. showing how inept he was? I dont have a problem with jameer as our pg just as long as last year was him following directions from our last coach and not his true self.

I am one that is a little curious on why we gave lewis so much EXTRA money but I still think as long as we add a good pf(haslem would be very nice) otis still has some basketball smarts. i mean he started out really well with the darko trade and the ariza trade. give him a chance. he was blind to not firing b. hill. i believe i read somewhere that he was trying to do a sign and trade in order to KEEP darko but was unsuccessful. dont give up on him just yet. i like arroyo for haslem and i would give up a 2nd rd. he has suprised us at time bad but there also has been good.

when i hear rashard lewis I think of a player we obtained via free agaency for too much money but will help our team as long at he plays at his regular position, sf. I have a serious question to ask though. Ok so we over paid lewis right? and everyone is blaming otis(and possibly upper management as well because otis did not make the decision by himself) right? so is any of the blame on Rashard Lewis for signing the contract? I know money money money and everything else goes blank but to me knowing that if i sign this contract yes i will get alot of money but i MAY/WILL hinder the team I now play for getting another quality player or re-signing players already on our roster. I believe that there was not another team even close to what we signed him for so it was not like we were in a bidding war and there was another 120 million dollar contract out there. and if i recall i remember someone on here saying that he and his agent said they would not even ask for a max contract. so why sign this contract MAX and possibly cripple the team? I do look forward to seeing our team play this seasson and will bleed magic until i die but this addition although great for the team hurts us financially. I do believe management is at fault knowing they did not have to give him that much money, but is not lewis and agent at fault for signing for so much? just a question. GO MAGIC!!!!

I think it frustrating to realize that we have to "find" a writer that has something positive to say about the Magic. But oh well, I could personally careless about what the media has to say about my team. I sincerely doubt that we will do worse than last year I truly believe we can be in the top 4 in the east. Yes the contract is questionable BUT like this writer said there was a positive effect from it...re-signing Dwight to a max contract. Seriously did that come out of no where because I don't re-call anyone talking about it before it happened. We new it was going to happen but why so soon AND sudden. My thing is while the money may hurt a bit I would rather show my commitment to winning to Dwight then be polite to Darko. And by the wa I also wanted to keep Darko but things just got ridiculous with his agent and I thikn that had more to do with the end result than anything else.

I am not picking a fight but You are NOT A ORLANDO MAGIC FAN if you are not optimistic about next year. Our lineup has its flaws as does every other team in the nba! you may have an outstanding starting 5 but then a crappy bench, or one or two good players and then a good 6th man and thats it. we can not have chauncey, kobe, lebron, dwight, and timmy on our team. it will never happen. being a fan is POSITIVELY supporting your teams players. yes that includes garrity. and on top of that we can still trade players at this point and before the trade deadline so nothing is written in stone. i am not blind just a fan. i am also not optimistic, i am thrilled!

there is NOTHING wrong with the starting lineup of Nelson, JJ, Lewis, Battie, Dwight. You bring in Dooling for Nelson, Turk for JJ, Ariza for Lewis, and you pick the bigs at random! It is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I would like to see nelson more than JJ work on his defense. that would make things alot better than if jj got better and nelson did not. I am a magic fan and do not have anyone on the team I dont like(is garrity still on our team?) and i think that defines a fan. a player might not do as well as you would like but you don't ever bring them down because they are apart of your team. I think between svg and otis they will find out what works best for a starting lineup and most importantly unlike last season make ADJUSTMENTS in game to deal with line advantages or disadvantages.

i am convinced jj can/should start for us at shooting guard. and on top of that he can be a quality contributor as he does not have to be the "star" or "centerpiece" to our team as we have those in dwight/lewis. we have our "leader" pg/dwight/stan van gundy. he will contribute and at times "go unconscious" and just make everything(cause i saw that young man play at duke and when got hot it was just unfair). don't let this defense nonsense talk get to you. he can play d, maybe not a shut-down defender, but gets the job done. bring in ariza or dooling if things get out of hand with a james or wade but even then there is thing called "TEAM DEFENSE" and if I remember correctly San Antonio won with that, easy. Let the young man play because HE CAN. Give him the chance, he will be at the least a quality contributor, if not boarder-line star.

i voted ariza because we may possibly have 3 sf(lewis, turk, ariza) and maybe 3 sg(jj, bogans; you could throw dooling in there just because) now when you look at that and take the potentially traded person out of the equation which one do you like better sf(lewis, turk) or sg (dooling, bogans)? you pick?! i would personally like to keep both but i see seattle asking for one of the two and if this is the dilemna than i would give ariza.

exactly pay him 8.5 to 9 and call it a day. he is 7ft and will start next to dwight. if we have to pay him that much so be it but not 10+. we wont be able to have anyone else!

hill should have stayed here for minimum vet for at least one year then do whatever he owed us yes i said it OWED us.

i think everyone talking about mc is worrying about the wrong thing. if you dont want to believe him than don't and don't read his stuff. i dont want no beef but seriously what is the big deal?

i understand we can keep both ariza and jj if we sign rashard out right but if it meant we could keep darko i would rather have jj/rashard/darko than rashard/ariza/jj. which is why i said trade ariza instead of jj in the package for rashard and then sign darko.

for those who dont think jj will be great that is fine and i respect your opinion. my question to you then is would you rather have jj starting at sg or ariza coming off the bench at sf? yes he will not start unless moved to a different position. who do you think has more upside jj or ariza? who would be more important to our team a sg that can be deadly from the arch or a sf who is a great slasher? i dont know but i rather have jj in our starting line up and face ariza coming off the bench on another team than face jj coming off the bench for another team and have ariza coming off te bench for us.

otis i would rather you give ariza than jj. please we really know jj has that shot at sg and we already have our sf in rashard. make them take(all though i dont want to give him up either) ariza along with any combination of arroyo, battie, garrity, draft pick(hopefully not 1st rd. do not let that young man jj ride the pine last year and then trade him. he WILL come back to haunt us.
