After OKC owned us the last time we traded with them I will gladly trade them Augustine, Fournier, Mozgov, and a protected 2021 pick that will convert to 2 second round picks in 2022 if not taken in 2021 for Westbrook. And that is my final offer.

Look, I agree that Westbrook would make us theoretically better, but we ignore a few factors: 1. What will it cost? Players? Picks? Will we need to blow up our slow-growth roster of young players for a 2-3 year window with him? 2. Will it adversely affect our player development? Guys who could be leaders in the locker room and on the court would naturally take a back seat to someone who demands so much in the locker room and ball dominance on the court. 3. Will it therefore adversely effect our team culture? It seems to be built on certain personalities and a communal environment. A personality like Westbrook can blow up a healthy locker room cultur. If we learned anything from the Oladipo / Ibaka and Harris trades, you don’t give up young 20’s upside for a 30 year old who might throw all of these into a talespin.

Watched Bamba last night and his shooting stroke looked very good, but he still is getting caught watching with his hands down; got beaten to the basket for a lay up by a g leaguer. It’s early yet, but his defense wasn’t where it should be. Like I said, it’s early and he hasn’t played 5 on 5 for several months.

Our backcourt being bad doesn’t mean Westbrook is the solution or even an average solution. It would be very bad. He has one of the league’s worst contracts. His teams consistently underachieve. He’s now had multiple star teammates willingly leave due to his style of play. He is one of the leagues worst shooters overall, let alone for his position. The effective parts of his game (all based on athleticism) will only get worse as he ages. So, yes, I’m fine with our current bad backcourt situation if the alternative is getting Westbrook. It doesn’t really improve us short-term and it absolutely cripples is long-term. You’re thinking any solution is a good solution and that’s simply wrong. Sorry. Also you’re reading too much into the Clifford quote.
