  1. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

None of this will matter soon. Silver has been pushing for a minor league type farm system like MLB has. The G-League will become that. Guys can get drafted out of high-school and will just play in the "minors" until they get called up. Those 2 way contracts are nice. Guys will still play college basketball but the elite-elite guys will go strait to the draft like they should be been able to do all along.

Vaughn is interesting, I like the pickup. He was a top 8 player nationally coming out of high school and is still just 21. He’s the kind of guy I like picking up this time of the year just to see if something sticks.

Hasn’t Payton always played well when there’s zero pressure, the season is over, and the game isn’t on the line? People acting surprised about his numbers in PHX when they’re getting blowout every night doesn’t make sense to me. He did the same thing here. What happened last year after the all-star break? Payton put up numbers. We still were getting blown out. He picks and chooses when he wants to play an engaged brand of basketball and all to often that’s when the season is already tanked.
  4. Hornets @ Magic 2NIGHT

I literally can’t even watch the games anyone knowing Mario is gone. Not trying to be dramatic but in my gut it’s the most disappointed I’ve ever been as a magic fan. I keep telling myself to just get over it but I can’t. This is the guy the majority of us loved pre-draft and were ecstatic when we got him. It took over 2 years but to finally see him showing why we loved him to begin with and knowing he’s just auditioning for a new team—it’s sickening to me. I actually get an empty feeling In my stomach from it. The new front office will have to do so so much for me to ever get over them looking past Mario over a dumb 5mil option. It’s beyond unsettling and we as Magic fans for what we’ve had to endure don’t deserve to lose Mario. It’s a shame that’s exsctly what’s going to happen (barring a miracle).

Agree. Skiles got more out of our putrid rosters post Dwight than anyone else has been able to. He called it with Payton but we needed to waste 2 more years thinking Payton didn’t suck. Skiles isn’t great in anyway, but he was the best we’ve had post Dwight. No one knows exactly why he left and what the exact circumstances were.

I’ve been saying this. People that were wanting him top 3 or even 1 overall was just insane. He has so many question marks at the next level. If we get him at 6 or 7 fine he’s worth the potential cons but I never would have taken him top 3 unless he just dominated the combine and his measurements were better then we thought.

Nice, this was a good listen. I didn’t realize how good his PER 40 is, wow. Also, he’s the youngest player in this draft, over a year younger than Bamba. I’m really starting to like the fit with this kid. I agree that he safely projects as an elite level nba defender. Bagley and Ayton for sure have more offensive potential right now but he can still be a good jump shooter I think. Just has to develop more offensive game in general but with his raw talents and youth there’s hope on that end. I also think his numbers would be better if he was playing more 5 and not 4 at Michigan State. He needs to be around the rim more.

I feel like Jarren Jackson could be the player who continues to climb higher and higher. Wouldn’t be shocked if he ultimately went top 5. Is it crazy to like him more then Bagely for us?

Jarren Jackson plays D. Bamba too.

Yea Duval wouldn’t start right away. He’s raw. But that’s why we have DJ and Mack for another year anyways. He’s still an intriguing prospect that late.
  12. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

I think Jackson could be the best fit for our team with Issac and AG. Still have Mack and DJ or maybe we can use some second round picks and a player to move in the later first and Take a flier on a guy like Trevon Duval. Duval/Fournier/Issac/AG/Jackson Issac-AG-Jackson would be something

I don’t think we should just assume we’re drafting a PG. Let’s assume we pick outside of top 6 and young is gone. I’m not sure we just draft Sexton or Gilgeous-Alexander because we “need” a future PG. Sure, we do—but with DJ still under contract and Mack it’s not a must draft. We absolutely still need to go BPA and I’m not sure I’m comfortable drafting Sexton over Bamba or Jarren Jackson. It all depends on where we pick and whose picked a head of us obviously but I hope we aren’t just going into this draft thinking it’s PG or bust. Jackson seems like a Weltman guy to me.

Crazy he was only 210 and nearly 7 feet. Glad he’s at 221 but they should really try to get him closer to 230.
