Official Game Thread: Magic vs Knicks

I come to this board everyday because I am a Magic fan and sometimes there is some good stuff found by members that I otherwise would never find. Problem is when someone states their opinions about something or someone and it always ends up being a personal attack on someone. I won't lie, sometimes it is pretty entertaining to see some of the pointless arguing and poking fun, but there are also times where it just gets vicous and mean. Oh well! I still come back so something must be right. I just hope half of the people who post here are not like they are in real life, face to face, now thats a scary thought. Fact of the matter is it was a good win by the Magic against a team that is playing well right now. It may not have been pretty at times, but the Win took every player on the team. Not just Jameer, not just Hedo, not just Arenas. Good solid win by the Orlando Magic. Now, here's to opening the New Year with a win against the Warriors on Monday!

Official Game Thread: Magic vs Knicks

Yeah he said it, I read it on Hoopshype. To put it in its correct context though, he was talking about the possibility of being united with D12 in Orlando someday. Here is the whole paragraph with a link from Hoopshype. "Sure the Knicks would love to entertain the idea of a Howard-Stoudemire frontcourt, but Stoudemire sees no reason for it. "They pretty much gave Dwight whatever he wants here," he said after the Knicks' practice Wednesday at the new Amway Center. "This is his team and he has a great opportunity here. I don't see any reason why he would want to leave." Would it mean anything special for Stoudemire, who spent most of his teenage life in Central Florida, to perhaps one day play in his hometown? "I don't believe in magic," Stoudemire quickly replied. "Sorry." Newsday" http://hoopshype.com/rumors/tag/orlando_magic

"I don't believe in magic, sorry" -Amare Stoudemire he better start after tonight!
  7. Yes he has been passing more, but if you are taking history for Arenas you have to take history for Nelson as well, no one considers Nelson a passing point just like no one considers Arenas one either. Arenas just got here he will learn to pass more like Nelson has, if you gave Nelson 7 years at least give Arenas 1 season is all im saying.
  8. No no no no....Nelson also needs to pass more, can't let him off the hook. I am not saying Gil is fine because obviously he needs to pass more but you can't say Nelson doesnt either. I am so pumped for when J Rich gets comfortable here.

Yeah I corrected the spelling shortly after the first posting.

    Gil Needs A Nickname!

Agreed...When did he lose Hibachi as his nickname? http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gilbert-arenas-nba-live-08/19075
  11. I'm thinking more along the lines of Courtney Sims
  12. Yeah I don't post much but I read the forums religiously, especially during the trading season. There would be a glut at SF, I think peaches or Gerald could defend the 2 easy enough though and we keep JJ. Diaw is very intriguing to me because of the handling and passing skills he has I think he would be a great fit next to Dwight. As for Charlotte agreeing? yeah I agree with you, I really don't think they would trade within the conference. While I believe Gortat could be their starting center of the future, and VC's expiring after a possible buyout would help them rebuild, its possible just not too probable. The mystery that is the new CBA discussions I think are affecting a lot of teams in their approach to make any "big" moves at the moment anyways.
  13. Personally I would much rather have Gerald Wallace than Stephen Jackson. Swing a trade for Wallace and Diaw for VC and Gortat, and I would sign on the dotted line.

  15. Exactly what I was thinking...maybe they are getting both the magic first round pick, denvers first round pick?..
  16. I am torn on this whole Roy for VC discussion. On one hand, based on potential BRoy is by far the best option but his health is a cause for concern when Carter although oft injured, does not have the seriousness or lengthy contract. On the other hand, I would rather have JJ starting over VC anyways. We are lucky to have JJ as a backup because risks like trading for Roy seem like less of a gamble because of it.
  17. I don't necessarily think he is dissin' Jameer, he believes Nash would be a better fit and if both were to remain on the team then sure Nash would probably start, although offensively Jameer could play a 2, defensively he would get dominated. I think he is just saying if Nash were to join the magic Jameer would come off the bench and provide a spark or instead of having 2 starting point guards, trade him. Does'nt sound like a diss to me just his opinion on what would happen if Nash were to be pursued by the Magic.

    OJ Mayo

From what I have seen is he is an undersized 2 guard, very streaky shooter, can put up as much as 30 a game and as little as 10 a game. Also a volume shooter, decent penetration into the lane and an average passer. At times it seems like he relies too much on flashy moves rather than making the simple play. As for fitting in with the Magic, I would personally say he is an upgrade on VC based on potential alone. He could be dominant if he can ever find some consistency.

    Paul wants out (with link)

Tim said anyone not named Dwight could/would be included in the Magic's offer. Said the Magic would be aggressive trying to get Chris. Sounds good to me... i dont think that chris paul is the answer. we have to give up too much. sure it sounds great chris paul to dwight, but how about when we run into a team that can play dwight one on one. who will chris throw it to. rashard can shoot the lights out, but he has to be open. it will be exciting, but it is not a championship move. the team we have right now, just needs a little tweaking, but it is ready. last year the celts stole games 1 and 2 from us because we were not ready. that wont happen again. What do you suggest then? And be realistic! Don't come up with an Iguadola trade when he isn't even available. my suggestion is to use our lineup to our advantage. dwight bass lew. vc meer. lew is too big for sf meer can get to the cup on anybody bass is to fast for most pf vc dominated most of his matchups last years vs most 2's and you got jj peaches and q rich coming off the bench and gortat. i love it. you dont think paul can go one on one? you might like vc or not but he could still take over a game. there are not many people that can guard him one on one, and without him creating, there is gonna be a lack of production at times. i just dont think he is the guy to get us over the hump, with all the pieces we will lose. VC stopped creating when he arrived in Orlando.

    No need for Myopia

Uhhh...why is that a bad thing? It gives Dwight room in the paint and makes us incredible difficult to guard with four capable shooters on the floor. I don't understand why people continue to believe the stretch four is a bad thing. It's worked to perfection for us. Also, if one more person suggests we start Gortat at the four I will kick a puppy. Dude has no offensive game, and is not quick enough to guard a majority of PFs in the league. Did you guys not see Rasheed friggin Wallace blowing by him several times in the ECF? Him being at the four also makes it easier for teams to double Dwight all the while clogging the paint making it more difficult for our wings to slash, and we no longer have the space we used to in order to shoot threes. Making it more difficult for out wings to slash? This is part of the problem, we have no penetration, Vince would have been a perfect addition to this team if he could still penetrate but he doesnt. Penetration will open up the 3 ball more than having 4 shooters around Dwight.
