Offseason Thread Part III: Revenge of the Smith (p.47 post 554)

Found the same info posted in a thread on RealGM, a mod locked it for known and unreliable source... oh well, it was fun to think about for 30 seconds.

Offseason Thread Part III: Revenge of the Smith (p.47 post 554)

For what it's worth (not much...) Someone on the Lakers forum posted info claiming the deal was done and the Raptors forum has a thread going saying that it's a three team deal with Dallas as the third team and the Magic are getting back Hinrich and Smith for Nelson, Anderson, Orton and a 2nd round pick... ...I'll be over here holding my breath. http://www.raptorsforum.com/f/f6/josh-smith-traded-orlando-20562.html http://www.clublakers.com/nba-discussion/josh-smith-traded-orlando-t130610.html

Great players we've had too late in their career

Mark Price and Derek Harper Anyone? Wouldn't mind having one of those guys in their prime right about now...

    Interesting stats in losses

Has anyone looked at Howard's Field Goals Attempted in these games? He's had some very good free throw shooting games this month. If the refs are a little quicker with the whistle and he's shooting a good percentage from the line, he'll score an additional 5-10 points without doing any more or less than usual. I don't have time to look into it right now, but if he's not taking an unusually high number of shots in some of these losses and he has a high FT %, this entire argument might be irelevant

How are you feeling about the return of Hedo ????

this. . . I thought there'd been another trade when J-will disappeared from the bench in the second quarter.

    The Gortat Thread

Just to put things in perspective, this is our back-up center we're talking about here. Here's a list of the Magic's all-time back-up centers. Marc Acres Greg Kite Tree Rollins John Koncak Danny Schayes Michael Doleac Andrew DeClerq Steven Hunter Zaza Pachulia Mario Kasun Tony Battie Adonal Foyle There were others but I only listed the ones who played any significant minutes/games. Name one of those guys you'd rather have than Gortat. About the only name on there I think might have been better was Pachulia and I stress might.

Something Looks Really Good About This Team ...

I think you missed his point there, he's talking about how Dallas has been a very good team for a very long time, but always runs into a wall in the playoffs. He's not comparing our team this year to the Dallas team of this year.

What current/former Magic should be a hall of famer?

we'll see, but possibly J.J. Redick. . . Not HOF of course, I'm just talking about the FT shooting.

    Detroit Pissed-On's @ ORLANDO MAGIC!

Can anyone elaborate on the call with about 6:40 seconds to go in the third (I think)? Jameer got tripped/shoved by hamilton and fell down, the ref blew the whistle and gave the ball to detroit, but it was never clear what the call was. I thought the call was out of bounds and he was ignoring the contact, but the replay seemed to show that he stayed in bounds. Did he call traveling or something?

What current/former Magic should be a hall of famer?

If we're talking about Ewing and Wilkens we should probably include Mark Price in that list too. . .

What current/former Magic should be a hall of famer?

This guy 'cause everyone loves nepotism. plus, when I think greatest Orlando Magic center, I think Danny Schayes!

    Where did everyone go?

Anyone else feel like the board has been off this year? I don't post often but I browse the board just about daily and have been for many years and there just doesn't seem to be nearly as much discussion happening. Let me throw some numbers at ya. . . 1 year ago, we also played the Heat (mind you this was the pre-decision heat) on Nov 25th and there were 649 replies in the game thread across 55 pages with 17,598 views. In fairness only 53 of those pages were generated within a couple hours of the game ending. This year we get 76 replies across 7 pages with only 1,516 views. That's almost a 90% drop off. I know I had some difficulty with the changeover myself (hence the new account) but is that really the cause of such a HUGE drop off in traffic? All it took was an e-mail to get me back up and running. What do you guys think? I want my lengthy discussions about the importance of Gortat's hairline back. . .
