Anybody still think this roster can win a "SHIP" ???

He could, but you'd have to go to Saudi Arabia to get it

Hey guys, just got a call from the guy upstairs, we're going to the ECF. Making the Finals from there is 50/50. We need to win a home game and then this slump is OVER.

    Ellis to Orlando?

Duhon was benched all game vs. Utah, lets see if he is tonight. On a side note, if he's included, the trade can't happen till the 15th. http://twitter.com/cc_warriors

What Otis should be looking for...

You wouldn't give up JJ or Pietrus for Jeff Green?

What Otis should be looking for...

IMO Nelson's never going to be in the 2nd unit while in Orlando, he'd probably be on the trading block if he were. If Gilbert were to come here, and assuming Nelson would not be involved in the negotiations, he'd either start next to Nelson or come off the bench.

First of all, Lewis for Arenas would be the death of me. I don't want Dwight strapped in the lockerroom with akimbo rangers. In all seriousness though, Lewis allows us an advantage with having a mobile, lengthy, outside shooter at the 4. He can take advantage of smaller SF when he is matched up with them -- post-ups all day. Arenas is an excelling, strong combo guard but we'd be swapping two terrible contracts and we'd be miniature in height with our guards. Melo would be amazing and we can see what happens when teams shut down Dwight. We need a guy that can shoulder the load when Dwight cannot and a guy that can supplement Dwight when he is on his game. Melo is certainly capable, if not, over-qualified for that role. Honestly, I would take Granger, EEGAHDALAH, or Melo in heart beat...the reality is that they would be difficult to acquire and unlikely to grab. I would take Gallinari if the Knicks were interested, Jeff Green, etc. Put an effective SF in our lineup and I'd be loving life. (Perhaps this is why SVG started Lewis at the 3, and moved Bass into the starting lineup) I'm happy with our PFs, two of which are still progressing in their careers (RA and Bass). Rashard is a matchup fiend and would be serviceable on any starting lineup. Although unlikely, I would love Melo to be here so Carmelo Anthony FTR

Orlando Magic @ LA Clippers 12/12/10 9:30 EST

So the Clipshow lost today in a nail-biter against Memphis, amassing their loss-column total to 19. We're facing them on the latter game of a back-to-back. They are beaten, tired, and we are driven for a comeback win tomorrow so I'm confident in some solid play. The Clippers have been struggling this season, at one point they reached a losing streak of 9 games. A lineup of Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, and Blake Griffin is intimidating, but has been tested and beaten. I smell a W tomorrow, knock on wood.

Orlando Magic @ LA Clippers 12/12/10 9:30 EST

Cause I've had enough of his contested fall-away three point attempts. In all seriousness, it might have been to get a bigger body in the game to grab rebounds. Q's efficient in rebounding for his position, but he looked out of sink against Utah offensively. Duhon did not play either which was surprising. Is SVG still experimenting with the rotation? It is evident he has been switching looks against different opponents. He even went into zone late in the 4th and recently he has been tinkering with our trap defense (which is completely out of the blue). I don't know what to make of the coaching lately...is it a plan to manipulate our opponents? Show them one scheme and then come at them late in the season with another.

    Panic!!!!!

Well, the Lakers lost 4 in a row... I just have to say, when a team shuts down Dwight we're pretty much screwed. The whole goal of our offense is to get Dwight touches...the plays we run for other players is probably to take pressure off D12 -- like the running game in football, taking pressure off the QB. Dwight's the center of our playbook. If he can't produce, well, we have a difficult game to win. We're still pullin it together, 5 players has been recovering from the flu (Anderson's still out)...just traveled cross country to Portland then to Utah. I'd start to worry if we lose our next game vs the Clippers

    I need some help guys

Just giving you the straight here: Are you saying that you are leaving Vancouver? And that she isn't going with you? If that is the case, maybe that is her way of coping with your move. Long distance relationships are hard -- maybe she is upset with the whole idea and wants to not get attached before you go.

    N.B.A. Union Chief Outlines Proposals

Yeah, very solid points right there. I wasn't educated regarding the previous lockout and the history of the NBA's negotiations with the player's union. No, I have never been in a situation where I was fighting against or for a worker's union, so I acknowledge my lack of experience in that regard. I never said that a token of good will would solely change the outcome of the new CBA, it would benefit Stern on the PR front if things go sour next year. Although, I did say that it would effect the union's relationship with Stern... but I think every company has these issues with ownership (idealistically, I'd like to change that if I were to run a small business). Perhaps I was viewing this in a much smaller scope, seeing how the NBA is a national-global enterprise. Naive? Yeah, I haven't got a clue how to run the NBA and how to go about union negotiations. Dangerously naive?...I'm not in danger at all. I like reading your posts though, insightful if the facts are true.

    Denton Chates with Oti$

:shard: Thanks for posting this interview, barnette. Didn't have time to read the whole thing, but I'm going to come back and read it all later. From what I saw, Otis isn't worried...as usual, and he's confident that we'll hit our stride later in the season. That virus hurt us over the last stretch of games, and we haven't really had a consistent rotation with players out so often. We have yet to play our true 100% Magic basketball and we'll get our swag goin mid-season and beyond.

    N.B.A. Union Chief Outlines Proposals

I'm not saying for Stern to agree on everything the player's union is asking for. I'm saying...show that you [stern] value your worker's interests at least a little. Give them the damn age limit or something minute that they desire, split the reduction of salaries over a two year span...tapering the amount of money the players will get instead of just erasing it all in one year -- make the demands you want more acceptable. You will eventually get your way in the end and the player's union feels some sense of accomplishment in achieving one of their requests. Dropping the ego to accept a demand would send a strong message -- "I want you guys to play, I respect the work you do and this sport -- now let me handle the NBA as a business, so we can all profit in the end." I didn't know that Stern is going to retire soon, but he needs to leave the job in a positive way and not in shambles. A lockout, and a revolution of pay cuts won't accomplish much for the next in line. The NBA doesn't end with Stern when he retires so he shouldn't act like it does. Is this Idealism? Perhaps...no, it is. But honestly, if he acknowledges a request from the union and abides by it, there is a chance the union would warm up to his changes in the next CBA. If they don't, well, we have the lockout and workers without pay -- things will go as planned but Stern could say he at least tried to compromise.

    N.B.A. Union Chief Outlines Proposals

I like this idea. If you want to go into the NBA right out of high school, you should either 1) be limited to a one year contract or 2) have a limit on your salary for your rookie contract. Star players can still enter the game at 18 if they want to make money and the NBA has a chance to see if they are worth pursuing without hurting the bank. Addressing Stern's agenda....he can't be pushing all the cutbacks in one year, is he? I say baby steps -- with such a drastic change to the pay of your workers, Stern, there is no avoiding a backlash. Implement a plan, spread out the salary reduction or at least lower the amount that will be subtracted from existing contracts. I think players can accept shorter contracts in the future if they are able to grasp reality. But Stern's thick head might be his downfall... at least make an effort to meet the player's union half way. They, after all, are the basis of your product.

    Age limit for the NBA

I think there should be no age limit. If NBA teams pick an 18-19 year old, they are taking a HUGE risk. It is up to their organization to evaluate and make the decision best suited for their team. Are they willing to teach a kid professionalism? Ride out the highs and lows? Accept the fact that, perhaps they have wasted a draft pick on a bust? Does the player's talent constitute an NBA payday? I say leave it up to the team and its staff. In the end, the Association will filter out the ones who have been pretenders and scatter them across the FA wire. Maybe getting cut from an NBA team will wake them up and send them to a school where they can further develop.

Latest on Chris Paul & Hornets (Ben Golliver, CBS Sports)

Yeah, good point. As fans we get attached (Otis too haha), maybe I just don't want to see him go. Another aspect here is his relationship with the team, the overall chemistry he brings. He is Dwight's right-hand man and he is the bona fide leader of the team. Can his intangibles be replaced? Paul is the Hornets' captain, the leader of their squad...and he possesses the ability to take charge of a team. He is a very capable leader but I don't know how it would effect the team psychologically (which must be considered). I'd be hesitant, but we'd have to package Nelson with additional pieces, breaking apart our team even more. Hey, I'm not saying he wouldn't be welcomed and praised if he came here, I'm just wondering if he'd be the right fit for our team in particular. IMO it would hinder our chances at a ring this year, but it would benefit us in future seasons after the organization has time to mend the pieces we would lose and allow the team to develop as a unified squad.

    J. Will needs a shot at back-up PG job (Schmitz)

I think that he could make good use out of that 10 minute stretch. J Will can shoot, but he has seen games where he hasn't even attempted a shot. We could use him to orchestrate some high tempo offense when our squad gets stagnant. As for the long term situation you mentioned, I think over a 60 game span Duhon could establish some chemistry. He's got practices, team meetings, and the PT in games to develop that. It could be an issue if he continues a habit of bad performances though, but he hasn't really shined so far...in due time perhaps. I think giving J Will PT could benefit us, we've got some athletic guys on this team and we can use the fast-break to take advantage of that. Maybe Duhon is settling for just average performances... this could give him some motivation and drive him to compete for his time on the court.
