Nice observations! I am not sure IF he is working on it, but that is why I said I hoped he is working on a go-to shot like the step-back jumper. It minimizes the dribble and allows him to use his awesome athletic skill to create the separation he needs. He is beginning to show some touch on his 3 pointers and FT, so maybe that will translate.

Honestly the moment AG starts drawing fouls in the lane is the day he becomes a force. His biggest weakness to me at this point is taking advantage of his penetration without a clear shot to the basket. At times he did a horrible job at creating contact once under the rim. At the same time calls were ignored when they should have been made. I take back what I said about our style because if AG is able to conjure up 4-6 more points on average at the FT line the sky is the limit with or without Vuch.

My hope is AG continues to have the opportunity to run point with the second unit, as his assist numbers really jumped under Clifford. Additionally, I hope he continues to work on his iso play, as far too often he tries to drive through people. Still his ceiling is very high and I’m crossing my fingers that he’ll grow into a star in Orlando.

I have to say, this was posted months ago. I am intrigued on whether the Bamba thing is real though. Could be why we paid Vuc $100 mill

I'm in the 'he can't reach his potential with Vuc as our center' boat.

Yea, pretty much were I stand. He has all the tools and work ethic but I'm not sure if our style will ever lend itself to him obtaining the numbers needed to reach the level of elite or recurring all star.

It's official...no Fran again this year

Why didn't we sign a few guys known more for shooting or offense. This what everyone is trying to say. Aminu is a defensive specialist, lets cut to the chase. This is undeniable. In fact Portland has had low scoring forwards the last few years because CJ and Dame take most of the shots. In theory we can have that shooting with more internal growth. I just wish we had gotten at least one more shooter, they were out there.

Is that something you have to make a big deal of? I get that you want to maintain some sort of so-called standards, but not everybody has your basketball knowledge.

Part of the Vuc contract that I think people are ignoring is if you want to trade for a max contract you have to match salary. If 3 years from now Jokic wants a trade we could be in a prime position to bring in a guy who's essentially Vuc but better into a team that has already (hopefully) shown that it can compete and make the playoffs with Vuc as the main guy. Vuc (expiring) + young player on rookie deal+ picks for Jokic could well be on the table then. Obviously that's incredibly hypothetical but that's the kind of thing Toronto did. They didn't build a championship team overnight. First they built a mediocre team. And then with internal improvement and a few half decent free agent role players etc they built a good playoff team and then when the opportunity presented itself they rolled the dice to become a championship team. It's easy to say being mediocre is the worst thing but some of those tanking seasons were rough and i'd rather not go back there for a little while yet.

I think it would be safe to say that our front office probably had the beat on him already. These guys start tracking kids with potential early on.

If we trade Fournier, DJ and our 2020 pick for DeRozen then we will not have any 3 pt shooting at all.

I will get a lot of crap for this but I believe ever since Alex Martins took over the direction of the franchise changed. Words matter and it went from "We want to bring a championship to Orlando" to "We want to build a consistent competitive team" Or something to that effect. Welcome to the treadmill Magic fans!

For those on the board that were disappointed in this free agency period, I encourage you to read Mike Bianchi’s article in the sentinel titled: Hallelujah! Magic’s best free agents — Vooch and T-Ross — actually chose to stay in Orlando | Commentary. It lays out a pretty good argument why we did indeed make the prudent moves considering the position we are currently in.

Ok, I’m going to start the optimism. 1. We were one of the best teams down the stretch this season 2. We identified needs: shot creator (Fultz)?, depth - we’ve upgraded with Aminu , still need shooting and more creation. 3. No way Fournier is going to shoot this poorly again setting up for a contract year. 4. Bamba has been working hard. 5. Our youth are only going to be better. 6. Many will disagree, but I believe Vooch will give us his best and another year in Clifford’s system and developing others will help. Finally continuity! 7. Fultz? This will be the factor if we can position ourselves a top 4 seed. 8. There was a lot of movement and some chemistry to be explored but we stayed consistent. All goes well no significant injuries 45 to 50 wins, otherwise 38 to 42 My humble but fun opinion.

His biggest weakness is his Fadeaway on all his shots... If he emulated Leonard who very rarely jumps and fades-away to make his shot, he would be more efficient and probably break the 20pt average. he needs to jab step back ala harden or leonardinstead of spin fadeaway.
