    2020 Official Draft Thread

Just want to say that even if I don't write in this topic (I live in Europe, I've a very low knowledge of prospect and NCAA) I always read with interest that thread, so don't feel alone and go on with that! :)

Hey thanks man! Appreciate it! Yea I wish it was busier here too, hence all my posts. With all this time in lockdown I've just dived in to thinking about the Magics off-season, the draft, potential free agents etc all just to keep me from being bored (and keep my mind off of the horrible things happening right now). I'm just using these threads as a place to file some of those thoughts, even if nobody replies haha

I understand, it can be frustrating for myself as well that we don't know. But at the same time we need to keep in perspective we know a lot more than we used to prior to the over saturation of media. Opinion: our team, for their sake; and likewise with other teams and their personnel probably need at least some layer of silence in order to properly make decisions that are beneficial for the franchise in the short / long term - whatever is important to the franchise at the time. If we as fans know everything about our team, you can guarantee so do their competitors and how can they remain strategy- and objective-focused if they are bowing to media and social media pressure? That counts for executives, players and support staff alike.

Then say that! They haven't been up front since the injury.

Sorry for being among the silent but your last post before was the single most enjoyable thing on the forum in the past 4 months. I personally greatly appreciated it. Wish it wasn't such a tumbleweed dirt road here.

Injuries can change or be unpredictable or vary depending on the individual. Injuries like most other things in this world aren't black and white.

The issue with the Isaac thing isn't that he is sitting out. It's that the front office has misinformed and all but lied to us fans. What's the point of all the secrecy? If he's hurt he's hurt. If he's not then stop bull****ting us.

Re: the JI stuff. Oladipo is sitting out too because of his injury. I think we need to consider going from zero to game action and the strain that puts on players’ bodies regardless of injury. the reason teams have training camp and preseason is in large part in order to slowly work the players into form for the long grind of games and then the extra gear of playoffs. JI coming back for an immediate jump to game action and only eight games before going to the playoffs is risky. Him having an injury just compounds it. However serious the injury was at first, it makes sense to hold out due to the shock on the body of going from the regular home workouts to the intensity of actual NBA basketball.

Wouldn’t surprise me. Their front office is top notch.

If you're interested in what the bubble is like TRoss has a podcast now and the second episode is about Day 1 in the bubble. Pretty enlightening on what life is like in the bubble.

    2020 Official Draft Thread

I know this thread is essentially me talking to myself so sorry but here's one more thought: I wonder what would happen if we get to pick 16 or whatever we have and Aleksej Pokusevski is still on the board. 7'0, 7'3 wingspan. Shoots and moves like a forward and passes and handles like a guard with good defensive instincts. The knocks on him are he's stick thin which affects him on both ends and he plays in the Greek 2nd Division. I think he's the ultimate Boom or Bust pick. And of course John Hammond famously selected another Boom or Bust pick from the Greek 2nd Division in about the same range pick as where we'll be. I'm not comparing him to Giannis in any way other than they're both unique prospects from the same European league, and we definitely don't need another big on the roster right now. But I can see why some front offices, maybe ours, would find it difficult not to pick him.

Seen some rumours that there's a mutual interest between Oladipo and Miami next summer. I've got to tell you it would really suck to see one of our draft picks playing for the Heat, and possibly winning playoff series (if he's healthy and paired with Butler and Bam).

He might have already had surgery. It’s very clear the FO lied or mislead us about his injury

Eh, if Isaac has to sit out i would be sad but what i'm concerned about is the injury worse then we heard. If it was a tear and he winds up having surgery, then why all this wait? That's the nightmare scenario, he comes back for next season, tears it and is out for the year. Basically two lost years and then we have to decide what to pay him on top of that. We all love Issac and he is the future. I would take off the kid gloves and play him. This is alot like the elbow injuries in baseball. Isaac has had a enormous amount of rest and rehab for what we thought the injury might be. No more amount of rest is gonna help a sprain. Either he has a tear that needs surgery or he doesn't. My statement is gonna sound harsh but 'id rather he comes back and shows possibly that he needs surgery or that he is healthy. It's harsh but if the kid needs surgery all this being overly cautious isn't going to help him, just delay what he really needs.

Weltman was asked if JI would play today and said something along the lines of him only being cleared for ‘light court work’. They were intentionally deceptive in the phrasing of what his injury was when it happened and now fans are reasonably frustrated that he hasn’t healed from a “sprain” in 6 and a half months. In terms of our player who tested for Covid, I thought it was really strange to see a photo of DJ, Vuc, AG, JI and Coach Cliff with no Fournier or T-Ross. My guess is it’s one of those 2. Could be Mo, could be Ennis. Don’t really matter, just hope they take it seriously and get well soon. *edit: just watched a video of guys getting off the bus at Disney and Evan and Terrence are clearly there. So, it’s either Mo or Ennis if it’s a rotation player

Sit him down? Your kidding. Make no mistake this organisation are taking us all as fools. He was meant to be back to full health early June at latest! This was not a knee sprain. It had all the making of a torn ACL, they are not being honest with us. What do they take us for? Seriously.

We are 30-35 in one of the weirdest scenarios we have ever seen, I wouldn't risk the most important building block we have. Sit him down.

Fultz not yet entered the bubble, he has a non Covid related personal issue apparently. Aminu isn't joining the team to allow him to continue his rehab and we have one as yet unnamed guy with Covid. I've tried to look at pics and videos of the guys getting off the bus and all the main players appear to be accounted for, maybe it's James Ennis? Don't think I've seen him.

A lot of the streaming cable services don't have the Fox Regional Sports networks anymore. I previously used YouTube TV (I think the RSNs are still available if you use YouTube TV in Orlando, but not in my area). Hulu Live TV (55 bucks a month) and ATT TV Now (formerly direct TV now. I think only the 70 dollar plan with HBO and Cinemax, the cheapest plan doesn't) both have them in my area(Gville). I think they are the only ones. Just some info for others who watch the games that way.
