Official 2014-2015 Strapped-In Season Thread

I guess because a contract extension wasn't in play, teams were only willing to give up so much. A good young prospect and a late 1st round pick.

Still, that's NOTHING for what is considered to be an All-Star point guard. Makes the Dwight deal (at the time) look like a heist (and in reality it was).

if im the kings, im giving up more than that for rondo. bmac or 2014 pick and future picks should have gotten that done.

So far, it hasn’t really worked out for him in Orlando, but we’re only working off a small sample size. Harris, Victor Oladipo and Nikola Vucevic are more important to what this team do, meaning Frye doesn’t get as much of a lookin. He still takes to the court and does his job well, it just hasn’t quite translated to the stat sheet.

If he was traded tomorrow for considerable returns, I for one wouldn’t be too sad to hear that. On the other hand though, I’m also quite happy that he is a Magic player. He was great last season, and he’s still only settling in with the Magic. But yet, for me anyway there is a niggling what if in the back of my minds with regards to what could be gotten in return. Surely putting the feelers out there to see if there is interest and what could be gotten back is an idea?

At some point Orlando needs to hit the button on accelerating a rebuild that is currently moving along at a nice pace, but that will need more talent to make this team a playoff staple once again. If giving Frye up is what’s required to bring another talented piece in, then so be it. Frye has the talent himself, it’s just we’ve seen it in fits and starts. If there are teams out there serious about acquiring him, I’d be all ears to see what could be gotten in return.

Maybe that’s not a nice way to talk about a player who is giving his all for the team and hasn’t done anything wrong, but professional sport is a business after all.

Just from reading this blurb, he sounds like someone who would write on the message board - as his article was laden grammatical errors and such lines as "But yet, for me anyway there is a niggling what if in the back of my minds with regards to what could be gotten in return. Surely putting the feelers out there to see if there is interest and what could be gotten back is an idea?" Does ANYONE proof read over there?

The idea that Frye is even tradable is a bit comical. We paid $8 mil a year to a 3 pt specialist with very few skills in terms of rebounding or defense - both BIG things for if you're playing as a big man on a title contender.

As far as I'm concerned, the Frye signing was just as much about giving space for our guards to drive and grow (think poor man's Ryan Anderson) as it is about having another angle to sign Tobias Harris long-term.

Sorry meant to add a reply not reply to your comment.

Does Kyle's improved range along with his toughness, shot blocking, passing and better rebounding make Frye totally expendable? Kyle is not quite the shooter Frye is but I feel kyle has more rounded basketball skills.

No. Because Kyle looks good one minute and then dopey the next.

which scenario is more likely:

1. The magic go on a winning streak of 7 games

2. Sometime this season, kyle flails at a guy on a fast break, breaks his orbital bone, and is suspended for the next 10 games.

Like brian cook, frye just makes ok players look better than they are. we just need to wait on Aaron Gordon to come back.

So the Magic are last in the league in assists, 2nd to last in ppg, 2nd to last in free throw attempts.

Basically our offense is garbage.

Our standing is going to catch up with these numbers really, really quickly.

This also makes Jacque Vaughn look A LOT worse in my mind, which I thought would be really hard to accomplish.

I feel your pain! I am the last one who wanted to see JV fail at this level!

I like JV the person, and he has a lot of positives that can be pointed to, but not this!

I will sum it all up with this one sentiment that I do not believe should be a factor but it is, deep down, I am worried about playing Philly tomorrow, we have more talent and experience, but they play every game as if it were their last!

WE JUST MAY GET OUT HUSTLED AND OUT SMARTED ON SUNDAY, BY THE WORST TEAM IN THE NBA....IN OUR OWN HOME!!!!!

There, now I said it!

I also think Frye suffers a bit from Dipo's poor PG play. I want Easy to start and have Dipo come off the bench.
