SOME STREAMING OPTIONS;

With the recent availability of apps such as TVUPlayer (link) and Sopcast (link) and their ability to broadcast TV channels over the internet at what are usually watchable quality levels, the availability of NBA games and, more specifically, Magic games has increased.

In an effort move all such streaming TV-related discussion into a single thread, I've created this thread. Hopefully this can help keep people informed of where and when to catch their NBA games online and also cut down on the large number of threads created to discuss these viewing options.

Please note that you generally need a highspeed connection to access these feeds. Also note that channels on TVUPlayer and Sopcast can regularly appear and disappear at the discretion of the kind individuals hosting them.

Pre-game notes ;

By KATE HEDLIN, STATS Writer

With their hold on the Eastern Conference's final postseason spot weakening, the Orlando Magic look to put some distance between themselves and the other playoff hopefuls Saturday when they visit a Philadelphia 76ers team that essentially needs to win out to qualify for the postseason.

Orlando (36-42) is in a tight race with Indiana for the last playoff spot in the East, and is also trying to catch New Jersey for seventh place. The Sixers (33-45), meanwhile, are three games behind the Magic with four games remaining.

"Right now, Philadelphia is a big game for us," Orlando coach Brian Hill said. "They can still get in the playoffs, so we need to beat them."

Following Saturday's game, the Magic have three contests left: Sunday at home against Boston; Tuesday at Washington and Wednesday at home against defending champion Miami.

Orlando is coming off a 104-99 loss at Detroit on Wednesday, its third defeat in five games. The Pistons led by as many as 18 points in the first half, but the Magic tied the game with 1:35 left before Detroit scored the next five points to pull away.

"That's a tough loss," said Jameer Nelson, who had 17 points and seven assists. "We played a better second half, but it's hard to spot the No. 1 team in the East a lead like that. If we get in the playoffs, we can beat anybody. I don't care who it is."

Grant Hill had 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting for the Magic, who fell to 13-26 on the road, including a 4-10 mark since the All-Star break.

These teams have split two meetings this season, both played in Orlando. The Magic won the most recent matchup, 86-84 on Dec. 9, as Dwight Howard had 28 points and Hill added 23 to lead Orlando.

That game was one of the last with Chris Webber and Allen Iverson still in Philadelphia, although Iverson did not play in the contest. Both have since been traded, and despite losing their two biggest stars, the Sixers have done surprisingly well after entering the break with a 17-36 record.

Philadelphia has won three straight, including a 102-94 victory over the Celtics on Wednesday, to improve to 16-9 since the All-Star break. The Sixers shot a season-high 56.2 percent from the field and had six players score in double figures -- four of which had more than 15. Steven Hunter led the Sixers with 20 points and seven rebounds, and Andre Miller added 19 points.

"We had a lot of nice performances from everyone," coach Maurice Cheeks said.

Leading scorer Andre Iguodala was sidelined with a strained lower back while reserves Kyle Korver (sprained wrist) and Rodney Carney (sprained knee) also sat out. Iguodala is listed as questionable for Saturday, while Korver is doubtful and Carney is day-to-day.

With a victory Saturday, Philadelphia would win its first season series against the Magic since 1998-99.

After this game, Philadelphia visits Detroit on Sunday, faces Cleveland at home Tuesday and visits Toronto on Wednesday to close out the season.

Team Comparison

Team Record Standings PF PA Road/Home Streak L10

Orlando 36-42 3rd Southeast / 8th East 94.7 94.6 Road 13-26 Lost 1 5-5

Philadelphia 33-45 3rd Atlantic / 10th East 94.6 97.7 Home 21-18 Won 3 7-3

Orlando Notes

Apr 12 F Grant Hill's 22 points were the most he has scored against his former team. His previous high against the Pistons was 17. ... Orlando has lost 14 of the last 17 meetings against Detroit, including all four this season. ... The Magic are 12-13 this season in games decided by five points or less. ... All-Star C-F Dwight Howard has struggled at the free throw line, making just 6-of-16 on Wednesday and is 18-of-37 over his last three games.

Philadelphia Notes

Apr 12 Philadelphia leads the series 3-1 and on the season is 8-16 on the road this season against Eastern Conference foes. The 76ers are surrendering an average of 100.2 points per game on the road this year compared to 95.4 at home and 28 of their 33 wins have come when holding their opponent to under 100 points. Coming off their first winning month since January 2006, Philadelphia is 4-1 in April. Since the trade of Allen Iverson, the 76ers are 28-27. Philadelphia shot a blistering 21-31 (67%) in the second half, outscoring Boston by 19 points. Steven Hunter tied his career-high with 20 points while Samuel Dalembert had a career-best five assists, four in the first quarter. Louis Williams set a career high with eight assists and tied his career high with 18 points. The 76ers dominated play inside, outscoring the Celtics 60-28 on points in the paint.

Make my day Magic! Traveling to Philly to see this game and hoping it's worth the trip! With three or four Sixer players doubtful, the Magic have a chance but we've seen this scenario before and it was none too pretty!

WHERE: Wachovia Center, Philadelphia.

RECORDS: Magic 36-42, Sixers 33-45.

TV: Sun Sports; RADIO: 580 AM (WDBO); Spanish language: 1030 AM (WONQ).

MAGIC UPDATE: Orlando is coming off a 104-99 loss to the Detroit Pistons but is hanging on to the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race over the Indiana Pacers. . . . This is the final meeting between the Magic and the Sixers. The teams split their previous two games. . . . With three games after this one to play, it looks as though G Grant Hill will finish his first season since being acquired by the Magic in the summer of 2000. . . . The Magic will face the Boston Celtics at 6 p.m. Sunday at Amway Arena.

76ERS UPDATE: Philadelphia is not mathematically eliminated from the postseason race. The Sixers, despite playing without Andre Iguodala (back) and Kyle Korver (wrist), rallied from a 15-point deficit Wednesday against the Celtics to improve to 28-27 since the Allen Iverson trade. . . . Iguodala and Korver might be back today. . . . C Steven Hunter played with the Magic from 2001-04. . . . Magic assistant coach Randy Ayers was head coach of the Sixers in 2003-04.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The Magic are desperate, needing to win the game to take a step toward clinching their first playoff berth in four years. They need to take care of the Sixers early and rest starters for their back-to-back games. Dwight Howard should have another big game, and the Magic will go to him early and often.

If we can win this game, the playoffs are pretty much a lock, because then we'd only have to win two more games. Heck, if we win this game and the one against Boston, Indiana has to go undefeated in their last three.

Thank you Miami!!! If you guys watched the Heat - Pacers game yesterday, it was a miracle. Dwyane Wade put it into Michael Jordan gear, and really saved our butts. I though Indiana had that one.
