Then again, remember the sacramento game????? They had a bunch of nobodys in there and they wiped us off the floor.

I say, get a huge lead before even thinking of putting double j, auggie, and the rest of the bench squad out there.

We need to learn how to stay intense no matter who we are playing and no matter who is out.

Brad Miller > Mark Blount

John Salmons > Dorrel Wright

Francisco Garcia/Beno Udirh combo > Ricky Davis

Mikki Moore > Whoever starts at PF for the Heat tonight

No, I'd say this should definitly be our game to win. Sacramento actually had a descent team playing that night.

SHOOTAROUND

The Miami Heat came to shootaround Wednesday morning at Amway Arena with a 9-34 record having lost 16 out of their last 17 games including last night's 30 point loss to Boston at home.

Things could not get any worse for the Heat, right? Wrong...their two top players and starters, shooting guard Dwyane Wade (25.3 ppg, 6.7 apg) and power forward Undonis Haslem (12.1 ppg, 9.3 rpg) did not make the trip to Orlando with injuries.

Wade is suffering from flu-like symptoms and Haslem is nursing a sprained right ankle. Add them to the Heat's already lengthy injured list which includes Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning, and you have a D-League starting lineup going against the Magic tonight.

There in lies the problem for the Magic...after the tough, emotional week against superb teams, how do the Magic mentally come out strong against the depleted Heat squad?

Head coach Stan Van Gundy offered up some of his past experiences to the team as they come into a game of this nature.

"On a one game deal, anything can happen in this league," stated Van Gundy, "especially when a team has nothing to lose."

Van Gundy recalled a coaching experience early on in his career with the Heat in which a short-handed Miami team went out and beat Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls by 20 points.

"We had just made a big five player trade and had some guys on the floor that nobody knew about but they came out with nothing to lose and took it to a very good Bulls team."

Van Gundy continued, "It is going to be a real maturity test, and I can issue every warning to them, but it ultimately comes down to how they want to come out and play."

Expect the team to come out strong after a solid practice yesterday and a focused shootaround this morning as they look to extend their Southeast Division lead.

PREGAME

At the start of the season, the Miami Heat were predicted by many NBA experts to win their fourth straight Southeast Division title.

Fast forward three months, and the Miami Heat find themselves with the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 9-34, 17 games behind the Southeast Division leading Magic.

Trades, injuries, and the deterioration of veteran players have all resulted in the Heat's downward spiral which came to its peak this past week when they lost an NBA season high 15 straight games.

The Heat eventually ended that streak by beating the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, but the immediate future does not look bright in Miami.

Dwyane Wade has provided the only light for the Heat this season averaging 25.3 points (5th in the NBA) while dishing out a team-high 6.7 assists per game.

Wade has torched up the Magic this season averaging 40.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in two losing efforts.

In those two wins...the Magic have averaged 120.5 points with Hedo Turkoglu averaging 24.5 points and Dwight Howard averaging 23 points and 17 rebounds in those victories.

Howard, the league's top rebounder at 14.9 boards a night, should have a monster game on the glass facing a Heat squad without the services of Shaquille O'Neal (left hip) and Alonzo Mourning (right knee)...not to mention, the Heat rank dead last in team rebounding at 38.81 rebounds per game.

Miami also ranks dead last in scoring, averaging just 92.95 points per game, nearly 11 points fewer than the Magic's average.

The Magic will hope to improve their season record to 3-0 against their interstate rivals while extending their home winning streak to five games at Amway Arena on Wednesday night.
