morlegend Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 i'm sorry, but he just gets killed- even by jared dudley. and when he's not on fire, then he's pretty much useless. I'd really like to see him improve on his defense, but until then, he's definitely not a starter. Quote

sportsrock37 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I agree with the person who wrote this thread. I mean don't jump on him after 1 half of summer league, but I don't think he should be starting with Shard at SF and Jameer at PG. Quote
MagicNoles Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 LOL yo i live JJ. Be kats right he does just get KILLED on defence. ITs just SL though hell improve by season. doesnt need to be starting maybe, but does warrant significant minutes. Quote

During the season he won't have to take that much pressure. Even while he's off, he's opening the floor for the big men. Dudley has 11 pts and that means that he's getting killed? Perhaps a bit of an overstatement if you ask me. It's one half. Let's see how the second goes. Quote

Jareth Cutestory Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 If Redick improves on defense, and can create his own shot, then start him. Either way Lewis and Howard will leave Redick open to do what he does best, hit that sweet jumpshot of his. Who else do you want to start at SG? Quote

Exactly why I don't want to start him. He would be the FOURTH option on offense. JJ doesn't do enough to impact the game if he's not getting the ball or shooting well. It'd be dumb to start him when he won't get the ball that much with Dwight, Shard, and Jameer getting the majority of the shots. We need role players who can play defense, like Ariza starting. JJ will be the #1 option off the bench more than likely, which is a much better situation for him. Quote
morlegend Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 i mainly say this cause when he was in the game, we were down 18. when he left, the lead was brought down to 9. he comes back, and by half time, we're down 14. maybe he's just tired. but he's still playing against jared dudley (who has yet to play a single minute in the NBA). listen, i really like JJ too. but his defense was really bad this half. and i didn't find it too stellar the previous two games either. This against summer leaguers. Let's hope he improves a lot. Quote
