He's the reason I took like a 6 month Hiatus from this forum, I knew I would get banned soon if I kept getting into it with him. It just seems like a happier place without him.

Disagreements on message boards are funny. Everyone wants the same result but everyone has their own ideas on how to get there. So much time invested into figuring out when one disagrees, it's exhausting. I'm sure he'll be back eventually.

I don't think it was Rob making a statement at all. JJ loved Orlando, but also was in his prime and wanted to compete on a winning team. I really doubt JJ would've re-signed but as you said, it's in the past. JJ is having a hell of a shooting season that no one is talking about thanks to the ridiculous Steph Curry

We got Tobias... JJ left the Bucks. We basically got T12 for free when we did it.

 

Moving on... it's in the past. I'll leave it at that. More fun times ahead today

Redick was traded because we were in year one of the post Dwight rebuild and couldn't afford to re-sign a good role player to a big contract. The fact we had Afflalo at the time made it an even easier decision. I loved JJ, still to this day one of my favorite players to ever suit up for the Orlando Magic, but it was the right call. We ended up with a younger cheaper Tobias Harris and it worked out. Unfortunately now, Harris is not so cheap and his production isn't worth it so we again made the right call to unload the deal to allow us to re-sign Fournier and have flexibility for other moves. Being able to have flexibility is huge, it's something Rob understands but Otis didn't. Hopefully we catch some breaks and things look up here soon.

That sounds like a team, if they were on the same page, that could very well make it to the ECF...and give CLE a run for their money.

 

Payton would probably start over Teague. If the numbers worked I would send Teague and Frye to Houston for Dwight and keep Jennings.

I can see the argument, particularly from an offensive side. I believe otherwise, and feel Payton has much better upside-not that you couldn't start the player with a lower upside...I just thought teague leading a second unit with Mario sounds like a unit that will score points in bunches.

I would just like to mention I'm here too. Have been for a while - just don't get to post often. :shard:

 

I think something the Magic (Rob) wants to change is the culture of the team. Like San Antonio and OKC, I think Rob wants the core players from this team to be primarily drafted by us and rewarded for their hard work. Bringing in a star player (like Howard or Teague) doesn't jive with the feeling I have when I think about the "culture" Rob and his team are trying to create. He's more worried about developing the talent we have rather than bringing in a player who doesn't have any allegiance to our organization.

 

With that being said, wasn't it reported yesterday Andrew Nicolson has told he is being traded and we haven't heard a SINGLE THING about a trade involving him... Anyone else believe something isn't being leaked to the media?

Do you realize what this team would look like on the court with Ep, Oladipo, Mario, AG and Howard?

Ugly actually. We'd be better defensively, but that's a lineup with 3 below average shooters. When those teams were successful with Dwight, he always had shooters around him. Plus Dwight would hate Skiles, and Skiles would end up clocking another star Magic center.
