Am I crazy for thinking it'd be a good idea to slightly overpay a scoring guard off the bench like a Jeremy Lin? He's not a great player or anything but he can get his own shot off the bounce, isn't a terrible outside shooter and when he gets hot he's hard to cool down. There are times when our bench just flat out can't score and it always seems to cost us huge leads so I think it could really help us. Plus with the cap set to rocket to $90 mil paying a guy $5 million (the upper end of what I'd be willing to pay a guy like Lin) is akin to paying a guy $3.5 million a year in this market.

Meh, I think I'd rather have Norris Cole. I think the best version of our team is an annoying defensive team and I don't really want teams to be able to exhale when Payton goes out of the game.

I guess it depends on who the rest of the guys in the lineup are and the rotations. Norris Cole is great off your bench when he's playing with guys who can generate open corner 3's for him like Lebron and DWade did but he'd be a dumpster fire on offense if he played with Ben Gordon, Kyle O Quinn, Moe Harkless and Andrew Nicholson and was asked to run pick and roll. (as we currently ask our backup PG to do).
