The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Recommended Posts

Not talking about sign and trade. I'm talking signing him to keep him. I was talking about if he's still a diva after he signs long term, and in that case if he's unbearable you trade him.

Wait...you think he's gonna sign an extension with us...that is hilarious....

What is hilarious is people who think they know what will happen in a year from now... especially given what's happened in the past with Dwight already. I wrote a lengthy post saying why our chances aren't so bad one or two pages back, if you want to have a real discussion about it then read that.

If you keep Dwight you deal with the potential of the biggest diva in the NBA ruining the new team concept in year 1. He is not buying into the team over ME mantra. He is probably one of the most selfish players in the league.

Right now keeping Dwight means that we are a 7 or 8 seed since we will probably not be able to upgrade our wings via trade. We will be better under the basket with all the depth, but look at the signs here.

The Magic acquired only 1 skill position this summer : Bigs. That is it. This is on a team sorely lacking wing talent. That should tell you something.

As much as I can not argue keeping dwight and then letting him go is not a bad idea, it is not a great one either. Quite frankly the guy is a complete toxic person. He has angered about everyone in the front office and literally acts like a 6 year old. He used Otis and ran to him all the time to backstab his teammates. Ill say it again, Vince Carter hated him so much that he asked to be traded.

Now the average message board guy will say "who cares - Vince sucked", and that is the problem. People look at these guys as cattle sometimes and forget how much the human factor plays into a team winning games. If you keep Dwight you are keeping a guy who has proven to everyone that he is not a leader, but is a big enough presence to loom over the locker and keep everyone on edge. Basically if you keep this guy, you are betting that his behavior will change completely and he will become a team player.

As much as D12 wants to tell YBR how bad the Magic are to him, he neglects to tell him about the PR department that has somehow maintained his image even though he has multiple kids, sexts nudes, has pursued multiple porn stars, treated all his teammates like crap and disrespected his head coaches, all while acting under the guise of Christianity.

Do you really want to have a guy like this come back in hopes to convince him to stay?

Nice post, don't agree with everything in it, but definitely nice post

Dwight is a cancer to the Orlando Magic and bringing him into the locker room is like asking the doctor "can you please give me cancer?" He's already thrown the whole team under the bus with "get me a new team" so we need to exactly do that... get him on another team!

We need to wait it out like Good Job Rob has been doing and then take the best deal we can get before camp starts unless Houston comes back to us with the package we want.

As far as bad contracts Hedo can be brought off the bench and bought out next year, JRich would probably be quite effective off the bench, Davis is an asset, QRich is acceptable off the bench, so really the only toxic contract as I see it is Duhon... who should never wear a Magic jersey again.

We need a good back-up to Meer

We need a good starting 3

We need a true center

If we can get any of these, get rid of Duhon and maybe 1 of our other contracts, get some picks and a few rookies of our choice, get Martin's expiring deal and have a successful cancer operation we will be in good shape to move ahead!

Finally, yes: Hedo and JRich do not have ideal contracts, but they can still contribute. Where they've failed is contributing as starters. While they're PAID as starters, they really shouldn't have been starting for at least the last couple seasons. Granted, there wasn't much on the bench to take their place, but both are aging players whose numbers crash later in games. With fewer minutes, I feel they'd be a lot more effective.

I don't think Hedo is capable of anything anymore. Maybe a good game here or there, but he is just awful. I don't see him as a guy to suck up his pride and come off the bench for a rebuilding team either.

True, but he's still a 6'10 SF who shoots the 3-ball accurately and can pass well. Hedo's problem, even when he was with Sacramento, is that he's...."mellow." Hedo has never played with a lot of energy or enthusiasm.

I think he'd be fine coming off the bench, playing 20 minutes or so. I don't even think it would take a lot of convincing, either: Hedo's made his money and he's clearly not a ring-chaser.

Agreed.

D-wight is D-gone....... Let him corrupt some other team and bit-- at the refs during games and brick free throws during crunch time...

Dwight: "All the selfish players"

Backup Vocalists (Shaq, Melo, Sprewel): "All the Selfish players"

Dwight: "All the selfish players"

Backup Vocalists: "All the Selfish players"

Dwight: "Put your hands out"

Dwight: "Im up in the game, trying do my thang, how much ya gonna pay me"

Dwight: "on the line I may brick, smile at a chick, laugh it off while losing"

Dwight: "I listen to Dan, who said fire Stan, maybe thats my new thing"

Dwight: "I will ask for a team, with a brooklyn theme, hey im just trying peruse my dreams"

Chorus:

Dan says if I dont like it, then I should put a move on it

Dan says if I dont like it, then I should put a move on it

Dont be mad because I want to go "Poof" on ya

Dan says if I dont like it, then I should put a move on it

Whoever you are Catman, you hit it dead on. While I know where YBR is coming from and it is 100% fact that ***** and Dwight's "boys" corrupted his mind, Catman is also correct. The Magic, PR, to this day have still slightly have his back by keeping lots of things under wraps. Hell, our PR team might be the best in the NBA. What Catman said about Dwight is all true, and then some, but you have never seen it on ESPN or even the Sentinel for that matter...talk to the security guards at Amway about trying to keep all of the "baby mama drama" away from the team. Their work is cut out for them every game. Countless stories about Otis and Bob that have never seen the light of day in the media. How many games did you see Bob sitting next to his family at Magic games prior to "drunk dialing Dwight?" Pretty much all of them. The reason he is no longer with the team (or around the family for that matter), wasn't because he desperately called Dwight late night.

Anyway, Dwight is barely speaking to his father these days because of his entourage and *****. What does that tell you? Dwight is like Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom; Brainwashed. ***** (Mulderum) has brainswashed a good guy, and his boys are encouraging it. While the very few good people in his life are trying to snap him out of it and wake him up. There still is a good man deep down inside Dwight, but unfortunately we will never see it until the day he wakes up, fires *****, kicks his "boys" out of his life, and appologizes. But it won't happen because he loves to be loved and there is no one who loves him more, than the people mooching/making $ off of him.
