Schmitz: Magic should trade for Anthony & Billups

Recommended Posts

ORL gets: Deron Williams, Melo, Fesenko

DEN gets: Carter, Gortat, Chalmers, Millsap, several picks

UTAH gets: Chris Bosh, Nelson, picks,

MIA gets: Billups, Birdman

Utah gets robbed, Denver does too but this might just be a decent package (not in terms of talent return but what they'll probably get back in a different trade). Miami gets the PG they absolutely need while also get a shot blocker, ORL wins everything.

Almost 100% sure the numbers don't work in the slightest bit

Fesenko would cause my blood pressure to rise.

We're less than 10 5 years from reporters like Schmitz from being recognized as being as completely irrelevant as they already are.

The internet killed them by allowing individuals to focus their attention to specific sports. The average basketball blogger knows more about the NBA than Schmitz does, simply because they follow it more closely.

Even a casual understanding of the issues at play here would make it obvious that this trade is a non-starter for both teams. If the Nuggets trade Billups, they'll turn the team over to Lawson, making Nelson superfluous, and any Orlando/Denver trade that includes Melo but doesn't include Dwight or Nelson is useless to Denver.

Meanwhile, the Magic end up with no back up center, unless you count Malik(and you shouldn't), and 4 players whose primary position is small forward, including at least 1 who is mostly completely useless playing anywhere else.

This doesn't even get into how bad Billups has looked this year. He's been forcing shots so ridiculous, Hedo would cringe.

Lol! We're discussing this in another thread and have discussed it since this summer. I think it's worth considering.

Meanwhile what's the deal with this quote:

Essentially, everybody but Howard is available — Brandon Bass, J.J. Redick, Ryan Anderson, etc.

I'd also love to know how adding Melo to Miami would be a good thing for them, do they plan on changing the rules of the game to include more than one ball on the court at a time? How would ball movement and interior d be improved by Carmelo?

Or you can make another play with Denver, say, Gortat and Nelson for Billups by himself. Then go sign Erik Dampier to play behind Dwight Howard.

Maybe you either beat the Heat to Billups — a Magic killer in a former life — or grab him to beat the Heat. Not just now, but for the next decade.

Correct me if I am wrong here but is Schmitz saying we should not only trade Nelson and Gortat for Billups but that he could be our point guard for the next decade.

Awesome.
