A big part of both of these equations (Barnes, Watson) is the interest in coming to Orlando and to an NBA Finals team.

 

Both players know that the situation is better here; both on the court and the contract side of it (no State income tax). Also, considering the short terms of the deals, as being reported, they will get even bigger pay raises if they play well for a high-profile team that is making deep playoff runs.

Not including Barnes or Watson, we're at 77.919m in salary. So assuming we sign both those players, we'll be at about 12-13m in the luxury tax, and still have roster slots to fill.
