We are finally backt to being a bad team with bad contracts where we belong!!!!

Jameer is not untradeable, Brian Cardinal is untradeable it's not the money (which is btw too much for him), it's the length of his contract. a 6yr deal for the 4th scoring option who is undersized, can't play any D and isn't even a true PG? he's pretty much untradeable!!! everybody who reads the realgm message boards knows that the fans of any team would be pissed if their GM trades for meer. cardinal's contract isn't that bad anymore. it expires in 2010 the year lebron will be on the market and i could imagine some teams trading for him.

I understand we are only 8 games into this season. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THIS SEASON!!! You say Rome wasn't built in one day??? Well we took our shot at building it by paying Jameer and Rashard a lot of money and unfortunatley I don't think those two players will help us get to where we want to go. We paid too much for them, we can't move them, can't sign anyone because of them...I just think those are bad moves that will continue to hurt our hunt for a championship for the next few years. Actually, it means we're limited to Vet minimum contracts, the BAE and the MLE every year. Oh and trading expiring assets next year to team's clearing cap space for Lebron and friends; we will have roughly 14.79m in expirings next year, assuming Hedo opts out and we pick up Courtney Lee's third year(which both seem likely), and that's with the contracts of 4 players, only two of whom are in the rotation, and both of those players(Battie and Johnson) aren't exactly ideal backups. lux tax? and btw, even if we decide to trade our expirings, how's our bench going to look like?

You all expecting things to come together this season and us being a championship contender just because of our improvement last year is laughable. Teams don't make two jumps like that in consecutive seasons. To listen to some of you, you would think we are a lottery bound team without any hope whatsoever. The first sign of trouble, you all sound the alarm and act like children who are tired of their new toy. btw...i'm done with this argument because there is no chance of me talking sense into some of you and i'm wasting my time...i'll leave you with a number, an expletive and a word followed by a suggestion. 7 ****ING GAMES!! Relax. no mate, you missed my point. last year we were 3rd in the east and won our division and despite that i was talking about us not being a championship team at all. now i wasn't talking about this season so far, i was talking about our current roster, our financial situation, our cap flexibility, finally about our future. we signed lewis and nelson to this sick deals and everybody was talking something like "hey, why do you care about RDV's finances?". well, i don't but in the NBA there's a salary cap and there also the lux tax and those rules combined with lewis' and nelsons contracts kill our future. i don't see RDV paying the lux tax. that means, we'll lose hedo for nothing or we'll resign and overpay him and won't be able to sign MLE's until 2013 anymore. all we'll have is the minimum and you don't win a ring with "replacements" (btw, great movie). you can't give the max to anyone. and 6yr deal for role players? ***? besides that, we won't have any trade assets besides next year's expirings which we probably won't use anyway (remember last year?). hedo's trade value will fall drastically if we overpay for him and looking at meer's and lewis' deals, we will overpay him. but yeah, we still have our draft picks. the 20th pick will make it, yeah right. we won't suck that much to get a high pick and that means we should just hope for some diamonds.

It's been 7 F'ING GAMES, They lost to Atlanta who's 6-0, Portland who's a playoff team in the west and Memphis (the only bad loss). If they go 0-3 on this roadtrip, then i'll be concerned. Until then, you all need to relax. Are they a championship team? No, but what moves could they have made this off season that would have got them there? They have no trading pieces (despite what some seem to think, jj/cook isn't going to bring in a pf or pg we can use), they had a late draft pick and they had very little $ to spend . Building a championship team takes time...especially when you're not allowed to go over the lux tax threshold. i think that's exactly what the OP is trying to say. lewis' and nelsons contracts are pretty much untradeable. shorter and cheaper deals are much easier to deal even if the player sucks. and as you said, we don't have a championship team, we don't have any trade assets, we don't have to money to sign new player (we won't be able to use the MLE if we don't want to pay the task)... i wouldn't be surprised if we lose hedo in the offseason for nothing. it doesn't look good at all. @OP you totally have a point. just, there are some fans who start bashing you whenever you say something bad about the team. everybody who says a bad thing about the magic is an idiot. sorry, but that's clear homerism!!! face it guys, the magic aren't a contender and our "robins", lewis and turk will be 30 by the beginning of the next season. they'll decline and before dwight will be ready (shaq won his first at age 28), they could be just bad contract, impossible to trade.
  5. quote: Originally posted by magicfreak#1:1. World champiopn Celtics, Yes Jameer would do, and does a better job than Rhondo, easy. Umm, no way lol. with allen and pierce they don't need another scoring guard who btw can't defend or run the offense, rondo is a great fit for them. and i'd take him anyday over meer 2. The Knicks. the knicks suck but duhon (i'm not a fan of him at all) is playing pretty good so far and he always was a better defender than meer. gimme duhon 3. The Raptors, Meer pretty much owned both in playoffs LooooooooooooooooooL 4. The Grizzlies, being that OJ is a rookie I'd say Meer gets the start, but this one is definately debateable, and Conley is good. Don't do drugs!!! 5.The Cavs mo williams sucks, it's a tie at best for jameer 6.Pacers, meer usually owns Tinsley i take jack over jameer, tinsley is a better PG but has some garbage 7. The Bucks sessions? i kinda like this guy, he can be a good starter. 8.Bobcats not a big felton fan but he owns meer 9.The heat, Chalmers has upside, but Meer will take this Green hand easy chalmers >>> nelson 10. The Kings udrih... hmm, he's solid but nothing special. but still a better PG than nelson Wow, it may have been easier to list the teams Meer couldn't start on!!! rrrrrrrrrright 11.The Warriors - the don't even have one right now yeah right, meer owning baron davis rofl 12. The Thunder i give you this one. do they have a PG at all? watson is the only one that comes to my mind 13.Portland i'm not a blake fan but i could live with sergio in a magic jersey. 14. OMG meer > Telfair the Timberwolves! telfair plays pretty good since he was traded to the wolves Where are all these superior PGs anyway!!! 15.Possibly Houston though Alston is playing tough this year, but still meer is in the same class. Well Meer isn't Allstar material no, but IMO is a solid starter, what was TO/game ratio last season, I seem to remember it being pretty good. finally, orlando is probably the only team that would start jameer nelson. to answer the question: i'd like a pass first PG who plays solid D and has a solid shoot. i'd take hinrich in a second.

  9. can you imagine a euro team offering dwight that kind of money? that would make the magic a lotto team again
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=t...&page=Rookies-080627 this list is ridicules lol marc gasol 4th? before mayo and rose? hahaha

You don't really think Kyle Lowry's better than Jameer Nelson, do you? Because if you did that would sort of hurt your credibility a little. offense + defense = ? yep, sounds about right... lowry > nelson

    Magic Interested in Anthony Johnson

great another backup now we have 2.5 starters, a rookie and backups... poor backups that's exactly how you win the championship

Rashard has the largest per year contract in the NBA...Wow!

But the point is that we are improving, we won 40 games last year, up 12 this year... we got a free agent got 12 more wins 2nd round... thats why we get people like rashard... forget their **** salary n shyt... last year's team probably wouldn't have made the playoffs with bhill instead of SVG. it's not shard that made the difference, it was the coach.
  16. CRAZY SERB

    Nice, cheap and obtainable bigmen...

chris richard, herbert hill, andre brown, stephane lasme and josh duncan are the guys i'd look at. they are pretty young, cheap and would be very good additions to our roster. theo ratliff would be the perfect veteran back up for dwight, i'd sign him too. kwame is interesting too but i think he might demand more money than the others.

krsti? is soft + not interested in defense at all but he can spread the floor for dwight. i dunno...
