You guys think Van Gundy's job is in jeopardy?

NO. Most who say SVG's job are at stake probably just started following the magic. But Fair weather Fans are always welcome in my book. I love it when the skys are blue.

    Pierce's illegal push offs

What I find so funny is that on the off chance they do get called for something they squeal like cut puppies, and whine all the game about it, then to my astonishment many times they are rewarded and calls get over turned. How many have there been in just this playoff series?

    So, the real question is...

Do the Celtics have another come from behind, Last second, Buzzer beater, Pulled from out of their..., With everything going their way, or will the BETTER team Prevail??? Seriously we have been the better team every game so far, the celtics have just been lucky. Can they keep it up?
  4. Junkie, I watched the game and it looked like SVG yanked him a couple times when he, (Clee) made defensive errors, he a couple times he didn't switch with Peitrus and stayed on ball once giving ray allen an open 3 which missed and then later the same thing not switching and giving starberry open 3 which he drained, after that one the cameras showed air france barking at C lee and then shortly after SVG yanking him. To be honest though when I read this article I initially thought Dwight was talking about Clee needing more burn too, or leave him in even if he made a mistake, let him get in rhythm. Lee looked on stride in the offense when he was in though. To be honest though JJ smothered Ray allen on defensive side all night, the one he made late was as open as allen was all night.

Both shots were bad shots, the first one early in shot clock when we are getting to the hoop at will, second from half court with time on clock.

    League Better Suspend Perkins

This play is actually more alike the Derek Fisher, Skola foul, in that there is obvious look back at the player he is about to elbow above the chest, which is enough to get the suspension. Dirt Dan must be drunk, or watching a different game, the only other option is psychiatric problems, which can't be ruled out yet either.

Is Doc Rivers a good coach?

Well, he thought that Ty Lue was first string quality when he was here. Does that answer your question?
  11. quote: Originally posted by ball junkie:I will say this...that was the best I've ever seen J.J. Redick play in his professional career...oddly, Dwight didn't play. Coincidence?...Or a reason? If it's a reason, what is it? Curious of other's thoughts... First off I have to agree with KITNO, irresponsible journalism. But to chime in a likely reason for improved performance. He is guarenteed to get minutes whether he sucks it up or not. C Lee is out, Bogans dosen't play here anymore, Peitrius can't play 48 minutes. It can be tough playing when you feel like you have to sink every single shot or get yanked out of the game for a few months, especially for a shooter, they usually need to have the confidence of players and coach to let them miss a few and know they are still going to get minutes. You have to figure that JJ has spent his whole basketball career as "the guy" on the team who is going to take most of the shots. Now in the nba that is not the case, and he will have to adjust. Happy JJ is playing well, but when does CLee get back?
  12. quote: Originally posted by ALPHA OMEGA theEND forOtis:Dwight Howard has been this emotional for a while and this is not the first time where he has done this. He barely hit the guy, imagine if he would have hit him. The league would have sodomized him like no one else would. Sorry, but I can't disagree with you more. As a team We need more of this Fire. Someone needs to Put AI on his *** first play game 6. Some one else, Gortat, Batie should have Decked Dalambert in the first game and it would have been a role player ejected, this should be recognized by the coach, if the refs are letting the other team beat up your meal ticket, you take it in your own hands period. Our team needs more emotion, and the team needs to protect Dwight. If you are D12 and you throw that elbow you should have decked the MF and put him in the hospital. We will see how many other opponents want some of that.

    Howard Suspended for Game 6

Why wasn't Dalambert suspended for his elbow to the back 4 seconds earlier. I am sick of people who only watched the slowed down 10th of a second clip having an opinion on this. In real time the elbow is nothing more than Dwight forcing Dalambert to release from him. This is BS.

    Will Dwight be suspended? {POLL}

quote: Originally posted by Greg Kite for Three!:I didn't read through all the posts, but does anyone else remember that Garnett 'should' have been suspended after his altercation against the Hawks last season, but of course he wasn't. Samuel was still holding onto Dwight and Dwight was just trying to free himself up and he caught up with an elbow. If Sam goes to the crowd screaming maybe Dwight gets suspended, but considering Dwight also knocked out his own teammate in the same game with an accidental elbow how can the league come back and say that the other elbow was intentional. Sam didn't even respond to the elbow, which means he didn't think Dwight meant to hit him. Find me one incident where someone is intentionally elbowed in the face and doesn't get immediately in the face of the elbower. If Sam didn't think it was intentional when it happened, then Stern shouldn't declare it intentional 24 hours after the incident. I agree, shouldn't be suspended it was an obvious reaction to free himself from Dalambert. Dwight RAN AWAY as he did it which is more proof he was not trying to start an altercation.

If SVG could just build a small gameplan for Pietrus, maybe he could get in the flow a bit more on offense too. yea, peitrus was hitting 3's too.

#1 Post season dunks and layups with out opponents hitting the floor. (a problem from the first day) #2 No respect from NBA refs, not even on homecourt. #3 Our scared deer in the headlights fear of the Detroit Pissons

I'm not sure how long you've been watching the magic but it is hard for me to think of a more overachieving magic coach. The day SVG could coach Danny Schayes, Horace Grant, Bo Outlaw, Nick Anderson, Derek Harper, Derek Strong, & Darrell Armstrong to a .500 record is the day he'll become as good as the best coach Orlando has ever had. By that logic, Doc Rivers would have to rank just as high after his work with the "Heart n' Hustle" team of 2000. I would argue the "heart n' hustle" team had more talent & River did get them to overachieve. Did Ben Wallace not end up leading a team to championship? Schayes & Harper were like 36 years old. Bo, DA, & Strong had barely even played in the NBA up to that point & Nick was brought back from the dead. Claiming Daly didn't coach the hell out of that team because it only finished .500 is too results oriented. That team had about as much talent as the expansion team. You could "argue" that "heart n' hustle" team had more talent, but that doen't mean you win the argument. A revelation that year, Wallace showcased the promise that let him to be an anchor in Detroit's championship season several years later, that doesn't make him more valuable than Horace, who was still a premier power forward the year you are refeing to. I didn't claim Daly didn't coach the hell out of that team, I only point out that the argument makes Rivers just as good of not greater. Yet neither you nor me would point to Doc as the greatest coach we have ever had. I think Chuck and SVG are the best coaches we have ever had and I'll leave it at that. Chuck and Doc both are good arguements, just remember Doc CHOSE to start ty lue at pg, and who couldn't win with the celtics team last year. As for Chuck, well he did pretty well given the circumstances but still, talking about this team. We are winning now. We have entertaining basketball to watch, and we have a team with 3 starters injured, 2 of them allstars fighting it with a team that is playing it's best ball all year right now, and they are still having to pull last second prayers out of their arses to win.

    MUST WIN GAME 4..

We are playing as bad as we have played all year, and Philly is still only able to pull it off with buzzer beaters. I just hope we break out of this slump. I agree though must win #4
  21. quote: Originally posted by Freex:As far as I'm concerned there are no real trolls in this thread. It's just their opinion. We may agree or disagree, but it's not really like they're just flaming or anything. I'm personally starting to doubt Stan's ability to take this team further. I think he's great, but it looks like he's taking some decisions that can make the team fall in the playoffs to close out games or overcome bad 3pt shooting nights. Is he somehow limited by the team's talents? I'm not sure, but no team has won a championship just living and dying by the 3. And while this team is better defensively than previous 3pt shooting teams, there must be a way to step up until the 3s start to fall again. Another real question, whose decision is to take the ball off Dwight's hands in the 4th? Is it the players or the coach? About SVG, I can't remember ever having a better coach here, ever. I'm not sure how long you've been watching the magic but it is hard for me to think of a more overachieving magic coach. Now ask your self honestly, did you pick this team to be a championship contender at the beginning of the season? Remember, we have a thread where everyone assessed their expectations for the season and I'm pretty sure only JD picked them as championship contenders. So ask your self did you pick this team as ECF contenders? I don't know about you but I had us pegged as being eliminated by the pistons again in the second round. Now if we were, which we probably won't be, but if we are eliminated in the first round with injuries to jameer nelson, hedo, and rashard, you would call that underachieving? Or bad luck, the injury bug. Or maybe even doing the best with what you got. Think about it, three of our four starters and two of them allstar caliber players are injured on this team and we still compete with a team playing at it's best. They are making outside shots and three balls, this in all probability won't continue. We are making very few of ours, again probably won't continue. Now at the beginning of the season I agreed with you to live and die by the three has never really been a great recipe for championship success. Defense is, and this team has improved in that area to a level that I did not believe was possible with the current roster. (sarcastic tone annoys reader) I'm sure all the players will tell you SVG never preaches or works on Defense, he probably has nothing to do with it.

This is exactly what I was thinking. True closers like Lebron, Kobe, Wade have that reputation because they are given the benfit of the whistle (even with 20 effing seconds on the clock of a 2pt game!!!). Hedo and Shard don't get enough respect from the refs to warrant being closers, and unfortunate as it seems, although Dwight should garner their respect, big men overall do not and therefore Dwight is also not the answer. This year we will continue to rely upon Hedo and his erratic shot selection and penchant for turnovers. But by next year, it better be the Jameer Dwight show late in the game. Anybody else that attempts shots will only be as a 4th and 5th option. Option 1 - Dwight Option 2 - Jameer Option 3 - Jameer/Dwight again on a reset Option 4 - somebody else That someone else should, and will be a player wide open spotting up for 3 hopefully Shard. It is really tough having Jameer down now.

    Magic Closer

quote: Originally posted by TheRevTy:To me, this is our biggest lacking asset. People talk about our lack of a tough front line, but to me, you have to have a guy who can lower his shoulder a get points at the end of the game. Hedo is NOT consistent with that. He was pretty good last year, but has either over thought it or lost his touch or defenses adjusted. News Flash Otis: THIS IS A PERIMETER LEAGUE. This is what people mean when they say you live or die by the 3. Clutch time, end of a close game, I would be much more comfortable having a guy who can iso at the top of the key, drive hard to the hole, and either make the shot or get free throws. Instead, we have people taking three point shots, which, if you're good at them, they fall about 45% of the time. As for Dwight, he is not consistent enough with his offense to merit ALL the touches at the end. Plus, the rules are much hazier when it comes to big men getting to the line at the end of the year. Think it is a coincidence that Wade and Kobe are two of the best closers in the game? I mean they played with Shaq, one of the most dominant forces in the game, shouldn't he be getting the late touches? Fact of the matter is that the first 40 minutes of an NBA game are a different animal than the last 8. Those final minutes are won and lost on the free throw line, with hard fought drives to the basket that result in high percentage shots. Interestingly, the same can be said for the playoffs. Last nights game was won with LBJ getting to the line because CLee sneezed on him @ about 20 feet for a pull up.

quote: Originally posted by Drunk on Mystery:In the last 5 minutes of close games, we should be giving the ball to Dwight on the left block every play, and setting picks off the ball for our shooting guards to cut to the basket. I like this idea too. Do you think coaching staff avoid this to keep D12 from having to take clutch freethrows at game tying situations? You know that opponents would just wrap Dwight up as soon as he touched the ball, and as it goes now even when teams are TRYING to foul him it is only called half the time. Oh Yea, and about that 3 second call last night? Total BS, I think Verajao is still in the paint, and he was never called for it all night. But with 6 seconds left Dwight gets one, Total BS.

Courtney Lee (the player, not the jersey)

Our team is one of very few playing old school basketball, relying less on isolation, and more on teamwork, and making the entire opponent's team play defense down the floor, except when Hedo gets the ball, LOL. Seriously, though I'd hope to see more low block isolation plays run for Shard then iso's for Lee, but I am a huge fan of how our offense is running now. I'm sick of watching new school ball hog isolation offense, there is at least one extra hour of time spent at the free throw line in a game when Dwayne Wade plays. I'm just not a big fan of one on one basketball.
