Orlando Magic vs Other NBA Player Matchups

I remember the Magic getting torched by Chris Bosh last season, and to me, he always seemed to be playing in slow motion. Basically, I'm asking if you think we will get torched again by specific players from other teams. I'm asking for your opinion, because some of you have a better knowledge of who has been doing what around the league than I do. unfortunately, all those centers you listed(with the exception of amare) are actually pf's. thats why we have had problems with them. but then again almost every team has trouble with those listed players. in my opinion...tor and chi will give us the most problems, in the east atleast. Thank you Murphy. So far, you are the only one who has given me a proper response to my question. I did not ask anything about Point Guards. My question is about the "front court". Last season, other teams said they did not have to change their game plan every time they played the Magic. So, my question is: 1. Because of the new additions to our team, and scoring help, will our new style of play affect the other NBA centers or power forwards' performance because they will have to think too much (during the game). 2. As I recall, Tim Duncan (pf) was matched up with Dwight Howard (Center). Chris Bosh (pf) was matched up with Dwight Howard (Center). Do you see other teams changing their match ups in the front court against the new-look Magic. Do you foresee matchup problems for other teams? -

Many times Turk was under the basket grabbing rebounds and then pushed the ball up the floor. Now, you may laugh at this, but Turk was the best at inbounding the ball, especially the 'alleyoops' to Dwight to win games. When Tmac played for the Magic, Juan Howard-- along with other teammates on the floor--stood around too much watching Tmac. Although, I place some of the blame on Tmac for not involving his teammates in the game. Most of the time Juan was standing too far away from the basket to grab rebounds.

Unfortunately, most of us spend way too much time on this board and when there isn't anything of note to discuss, we must create something (which may pertain to an old topic). This time of year is way too boring. We're two months away from NBA basketball, NFL hasn't started up, and my Cubs are rained out right now. I just need something to do. Crap! I guess I'll go out and clean the pool. See what you did!!! LOL Ohhh, no! Come back Smack!... I feel real bad now... I'm sorry!!!... There, there...now you just ago ahead and revisit all you want (You can laugh SmackDaddy) You guys know how to get to us females (Smile!) -

Besides, these are like "an accident waiting to happen"...long, drawn out feuds. 1. Nelson vs Arroyo discussions is...has been...and always will be a disaster (Shhhh!). 2. Darko leaving...We can't bring him back. 3. Rashard's contract...We can't undo it. 4. Grant Hill leaving...We won't bring him back. 5. Kobe and his ego coming to Orlando...Let's get real! So then start up a topic that will be viewed and replied to with interest. Unless of course, the only thing your familiar with is critizing a discussion that you are not informed about. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing else to talk about this very moment. SmackDaddy, I didn't make the comments or observations that I made to ruffle your feathers. You are one of my favorites on this board. I think that I paid you a compliment (or agreed with a comment you made)a few days ago. It's just that I need to get a life. I spend way-y-y too much time on this board. (It's okay to laugh SmackDaddy). I visit this board to be informed, because "you are right", I don't always understand all of the technical (if I may use that word) stuff that some of you guys talk about. I didnt' know anything about "midlevel exception", or how "caps" work; also, "luxury tax". I am a long time fan of Magic basketball, and I didn't know any of that stuff until I became a member of this message board. There is nothing wrong with people disagreeing... It's healthy. It's just my opinion that some of the topics get dragged out for too long. I just feel that with the season being around the corner, we should continue to talk about the following: 1. Wants and needs for filling the Magic roster. 2. How the Magic will match up with other teams, especially in the Eastern conference. (Please...do not include whose the better Magic PG...Nelson or Arroyo) 3. Discuss possible "one-on-one" matchups. 4. Discuss players in the Eastern Conference that might not give the Magic problems this coming season as they have in the past due to their team's roster changes. 5. I would like to know more about this player "Gortat" from board members' perspective. 6. Updates on "Frannie" 7. I would like a discussion of board members' opinion about how the Magic will start the season and where they think the Magic will be at the All-Star Break. 7. I would like to hear more from Balljunkie's adventures (snooping around). 8. I would also like to hear more about your thoughts on Stan Vangundy. 9. Whether you think we may see a new Dwight Howard and how Patrick Ewing will impact his style of play. Finally, I would like for us to look forward and not backward. -

I also get tired of anyone--it doesn't matter who it is-- revisiting a dead issue...especially when it's done, and nothing can be done about it. SONG: "KNOCK ON WOOD" Hey members, after I saw SmackDaddy's signature I came up with this idea for the Magic Nation's theme song . Smack's signature is of Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis (referred to as "Thunder and Lightning"-See Below). I was able to locate this song "Knock On Wood", which was recorded by Amii Stewart in 1979. ONE VERSE OF THE SONG GOES LIKE THIS: "I'm not superstitious about ya But I can't take no chance You got me spinnin', baby You know I'm in a trance 'Cause your love is better Than any love I know It's like THUNDER, LIGHTNING" (Sound of Thunder)[/b]... To view the Youtube video of Amii Stewart singing "Knock On Wood", click on the following link: P-L-E-A-S-E LISTEN TO THE MUSIC!!!...DON'T BE SO CRITICAL OF MISS STEWART!!! I have also included the full lyrics below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9BlvQ1JgXc&mode=related&search= LYRICS: "KNOCK ON WOOD" FANS: I don't want to lose you This good thing That I got 'Cause if I do I will surely, surely lose a lot 'Cause your love is better Than any love I know It's like thunder and lightning (Sound of Thunder) TEAM: The way you love me is frightening You better knock, knock on wood, baby FANS: I'm not superstitious about ya But I can't take no chance You got me spinnin', baby You know I'm in a trance 'Cause your love is better Than any love I know It's like thunder, lightning (Sound of Thunder) TEAM: The way you love me is frightenin' You better knock, knock, knock on wood, baby FANS: Think I better knock, knock, knock on wood (Drum Rolls) Think I better knock, knock, knock on wood

quote: Originally posted by D-BoFats:Foad, we're just the Orlando Magic. Most teams don't have nicknames at all. I don't think any team has a color nickname. We are one of the few teams that wear a blue uniform, but we don't call ourselves the blue team or anything. We just call the team the Magic. I hope that answered your question. D-BoFats, I think I know where he (Foad) got the idea that the Magic team is nicknamed "Blue". A little while back, ROCKCHALK posted a thread asking members to "Help With a Name" for our group--a name that we would like the members of this board to be called collectively. A number of our members (including myself) posted their suggestions and used the word "Blue". For example, one poster suggested the name "Blue Crew". Another poster suggested "House of Blue". I suggested "Planet Blue".

quote: Travis good luck little fella ,you will be a next John Stocton. To bad our moronGM is blind or on crack.maybe both who knows. quote: Otis is a moron a fool and on top of that shows signs of arrogance and being a total inept at making deals. This name calling is totally unacceptable and needs to stop, especially calling Otis a "moron". You have a right to disagree with the way he has handled things, but personally, I don't think he or anyone else (fans, owners, etc)deserves to be called any names. Otis has at least heard you on some of your demands and has worked tirelessly to meet a few. It's like a family that orders a bucket of chicken, and everybody argues because they didn't get the piece that they like. I am a Magic fan, and I come to this board to find out what's going on with our team. I also enjoy reading posters' thoughts and opinions. But name calling is very distasteful and I get tired of seeing words like "moron" being repeated over and over. Please mods, do something about this!

ESPN officially loses all credibility

Now don't go crazy on me. The word "stupid" used here means (funny, comical, hahaha!),,, nothing negative. The reason I said that was because while I was reading along in this thread, I approached your response, when low and behold there was Knappy's old signature. WP, I have said this before, you, NBR, DJ(and some others on this board)are so-o-o-o funny at times. When least expected, something silly or a funny picture is posted by some of you. You all just crack me up Keep the jokes coming. We need it to soften the blows of all the recent negativity on this board. -

But he left, didn't he? So, what makes anyone think that Dwight would not leave the team if he didn't get help.

The writers bashing that decision are not responsible for the team. None of them are stopping to think what would happen if we didn't get the perimeter scorer. What if Dwight didn't resign because we didn't get him help? What if Darko left anyway? Our roster would be Dwight, Trevor, Tony, JJ, and Jameer with Dwight most likely looking at becoming a free agent (can you see the league wide cap clearing that would happen if that were the case?) not to mention how would our record look next season as we are trying to get the arena deal passed. They didn't go about it in the best way but we had to get a scorer no matter what. I agree!...I agree!...I agree!..I agree-e-e-e-e! STAND AND CHEER...FOR YOUR ORLANDO-O-O-O-O MAGIC!

It makes no since to me that there are hundreds of threads on this board where posters are repeating the same thing over, and over, and over! What is this obsession about winning a championship? It sounds like most of you want it NOW! Am I missing something? It's nice to win a championship, but it may not happen for another 3 or 4 years. Look at some of the teams that have NEVER, EVER made it into the playoffs...let alone not win a championship...teams that have been around much longer than the Magic. I love basketball, and it is a good feeling when we win. I don't mind a few losses as long as we (the Magic) have a successful season with a lot more wins than losses. With the pieces that we have so far, I'm going to enjoy watching the high-flying athleticism of the Orlando Magic next year...because I love our team and I love basketball. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see us win a championship down the road. But for me right now, I'll settle for the first or second round in the playoffs. I'm just so excited about watching these guys play.
