I guess I owe you an apology or something. I didn't realize the playoffs were already underway... -

Agreed. My biggest takeaway on this is we didn't stop fighting, and in the playoffs a game like this goes our way because no one shoots 12-19 from 3pt land (not even us). The T on Dwight was ridiculous and should get rescinded. And yes, the refs were totally blind on a few calls. This game was lost on inches, but it's the type of challenge we need during the regular season against quality opponents. That said, we still need to get back to blowing out the creampuff teams by 20 pts with defense. -

Toronto @ Orlando, Orlando @ New Jersey Super Game Thread 11/12 & 11/13
Passenger57 replied to Jareth Cutestory's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
This week's practices better be defense, defense, defense. With the way we've lost lately, last night's buzzer beater barely feels like a victory. Getting back our defensive intensity will lead to more fast breaks, more open looks for our shooters, and the demoralizing of our opposition. -
I was really hoping that Dwight gaining confidence and improving the form of his mid-range shot would translate into a higher free throw percentage. Oh well...

Coach Stan Van Gundy, Mickael Pietrus spar over playing time
Passenger57 replied to Magic Fan 4 Life's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
MP needs to rehab his wrist which still isn't 100 percent. If he needs surgery or time at the end of the bench for it to get better, make the most of it now so he's ready to go during the second half of the season and the playoffs. The wrist is also the reason he's more likely to jack up those shots that make us scratch our heads, as it's in his head about exacerbating the wrist going to the basket for a dunk. -
Sad thing is I bet Charlie Villanueva is the one who comes out on the bad end of this because people believe everything they read. For anyone's who's actually seen Garnett play and/or watched his postgame interviews, they know it went down more like what Charlie initially said. If you look at KG's "statement" he released after the game, it was clearly written by a PR person because there's no way some of the words in it would ever come out of his mouth. See his statement below, and I'll highlight the ones he wouldn't say, much less be able to pronounce: “I am aware there was a major miscommunication regarding something I said on the court last night. My comment to Charlie Villanueva was in fact ‘You are cancerous to your team and our league.’ I would never be insensitive to the brave struggle that cancer patients endure. I have lost loved ones to this deadly disease and have a family member currently undergoing treatment. I would never say anything that distasteful. The game of life is far bigger than the game of basketball.”

Some Player Halloween Costumes

I improvised a Tiger Woods outfit with golf stuff I had in my closet, came out better than Rondo's outfit. I guess none of the Celtics play golf, and Rajon couldn't borrow a glove from anyone. -

Minnesota Timberwolves @ ORRRLLLANNNNDDDOOO MAGIC!
Passenger57 replied to Jagsfreak27's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I like this too (highlight of my day), but the Timberwolves played horrible defense so don't get too excited. I wasn't happy at all that when Rashard's outside shot wasn't falling, he didn't attack the paint to either get 2 pts/force them to foul. The same goes for Jameer to an extent, but at least he made up for it with a 9:1 Assist-to-Turnover Ratio. This is what killed us in the Boston series, what killed us against Miami, and what will kill us in the future. -

I had seats in 207 Row 15 (very last row) during preseason, and they felt closer to the floor than the seats I had halfway up 2nd Level at the old arena. My only complaint? No $#$^& cupholders! -
Amway Center has amenities, but will it be loud for Orlando Magic games?
Passenger57 replied to Fabulouskilljoys's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I was there for a game on Oct. 16th. Had seats in the 200's and wondered why they only had an escalator to go from the main concourse to the upper level concourse. There was a huge line to get on the escalator, and they had a minion who was only letting 30-50 people on the escalator at a time. Is it like that on the other side also with no stairs? -
We call them TMZSPN in our house. They moved studios to LA to get that much closer to Kobe's jock and follow Le***** around like they're freshmen trying to get the varsity QB to notice them.

Number 3 is not a bad place for us to start the season out. And we're ahead of "the team from South Florida", so I'm good with this. http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings

wake me up from my dream i had last night!
Passenger57 replied to gAmE.oVeR's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Agreed! Hollinger must still be plugging numbers into the Bat-Computer for this season. For Trade #1, it wouldn't give Houston enough "splash" for them to bite on it. And Trade #2, to quote Sir Charles, is "Just Turrible"... -
Just bite the bullet and get one of these. You'll be that much happier.
-
I'd say if there's a good chance of our guys getting hurt due to the conditions then don't play. Besides, we play them next week during the regular season anyway. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5714833

Official Game Thread: Miami Heat Vs. Orlando Magic 10/22 7:30 PM
Passenger57 replied to TrueMagicFan07's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Saw that in the article too. Just about word for word what I said without seeing your comment last night. Who needs d-bags like Carl Leibert and his bandwagoning spawn This is as bad as the idiot who asked if I was going to buy a Heat shirt this summer while I was walking through Orlando International Airport wearing an Orlando Magic polo. Yeah, let me get right on that, it's not like I've been a Magic fan since 1989 or anything... Guess the Commish wants to ensure firsthand that the refs enforce the new demonstrative protest calls, or as it will be known in this game only, the Dwight Howard Rule. -
OK, aside from the racist tweet mentioned in the article, this is nothing different than any other celebrity gets on a daily basis. So I guess now we're supposed to feel sorry for him. You burned up all your sympathy with "The Decision". Seriously Le*****, grow a pair. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/news/story?id=5707475

ESPN: LeBron James shares hateful tweets
Passenger57 replied to Passenger57's topic in Around the NBA/Globe Game
See what I said below, and note I said no one needs to use it period. This was actually not based on a stand-up skit, but a real life situation in one of my wife's grad school classes. Everyone in that class is white including the professor. One of the students in the class asked if a patient (black or not) used the word in a counseling session, if it was OK to then use it to make the other person feel more comfortable. They actually had a 30 min discussion about whether or not it was OK to use the word in any context. My wife, being married to a black man, already knew the answer to that question though. -
ESPN: LeBron James shares hateful tweets
Passenger57 replied to Passenger57's topic in Around the NBA/Globe Game
No one deserves to have the n-word thrown at them, and those that throw it are the real ignorant ones. Lebron is a complete douche, but not even he deserves that. And for future reference, someone asked if there's any situation in which it's acceptable for white people to use the n-word, and the answer is NO. Really I don't think anyone of any color should use it. Again, those that do only prove their own ignorance. All the words in the English language, and that's the best they could come up with? -
