magicblue 315 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Right. Players fail all of the time. But when you go against the grain and reach for a guy you leave yourself vulnerable to criticism. I understand what you both are saying, but again, that shouldn't be a concern if you feel you've come to the correct conclusion. You guys are only considering the fail side of the coin and maybe Henny is more concerned with taking the guy he wants and feels is the right choice than the potential reprocusions if he's not. Or maybe he wants Wiggins, who the hell knows? Either way, this is quickly shaping up to be the most exciting draft in quite a while!

If Henny wants exum and gets exum then we can't argue with that. Just that drafting exum #1 is ballsy.
Murphy13 185 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Read: http://www.rantsports.com/nba/2014/05/16/2014-nba-draft-rumors-noah-vonlehs-stock-should-be-on-the-rise/ 7'4 wingspan. Or , heck with links and actual facts let me phrase it like you do, to be extra snarky and snide: Sorry, but Vonleh's measurables are far superior to Randles. Well, since you mentioned it, 7'4" wouldn't be good enough for third best on our team even if you don't count Nik..much less 'unheard of' nor 'best in history of the draft'. You ignore facts and links that mention apparently unimportant things like shooting %, rebound rate, and other things you tout as a positive for Vonleh when Randle is actually superior. Forget stupid things like performance and such as well. But, hey, he has a 7'4" wingspan! Lets go draft Moustapha Fall-he has a 7'7" wingspan, or how about Giannis' brother who has the same vert reach as Vonleh-forget that Vonleh doesn't really know how to play yet! His shot looks so pretty shooting over 6'5" college players from Nebraska and Minnesota. 7'4" is meaningless if you don't know what to do with it-which is the case with him to this point. On a separate-yet-related note, Mamadou Ndiaye had a 8'1" wingspan two years ago. Also...out of the top 20 wingspan's measured over the history of the combine, only two turned out to be anything worthwhile-Shaq and Zo...unless you like the kandiman or Diop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVym9aAo7mU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBQ-Wn_R9S4 You cannot say after watching these from the same producer that Vonleh looks anywhere near as good as Randle, can you? The only thing Vonleh did better in these 'links' was hit a few three's. Those videos are by no means the sole basis for opinion but are the most viewed aside from hour-long draft express videos. Murphy13 185 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 And I'm sure that is more beneficial somehow, though Shaq contested that was the reason for his poor shooting-not allowing for proper grip of the ball (FWIW) Though a quick glimpse at the historical significance of hand size has yielded even fewer talented players near the top than wingspan-though Kawhi Leonard is a notable exception. zollman 45 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Henny on Embiid “We’re going to try to gather as much information as we can, and we’re going to continue to do so right up until the draft,” Magic general manager Rob Hennigan told the Orlando Sentinel when asked about Embiid. “We have some information now, and we’re always looking to acquire more information that can help us make a decision.”

Murphy13 185 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Shaq also said he was a big cactus. It doesn't seem to hinder Kawhai. Hence FWIW and you cut off the Kawhi being the exception part! Larry Sanders is also up there in both categories, he is serviceable as well.

Your long rant neglected the simple fact that I was discussing Vonlehs measureables only. Its a shame you didn't read my post before you strung your emotionally charged diatribe together, but you get wound up so fast in your quest to always be right in your abrasive way that none of this is surprising. Lets see who goes first in the draft shall we?
Catman 380 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 And block a few more shots but still, Randle looked a lot more explosive. Randle is more explosive. And so is Dequan Jones. Murphy's exact rant about measureables and busts can be applied against him so easily and it only takes 2 sentences.
