SOME STREAMING OPTIONS;

quote:

With the recent availability of apps such as TVUPlayer (link) and Sopcast (link) and their ability to broadcast TV channels over the internet at what are usually watchable quality levels, the availability of NBA games and, more specifically, Magic games has increased.

In an effort move all such streaming TV-related discussion into a single thread, I've created this thread. Hopefully this can help keep people informed of where and when to catch their NBA games online and also cut down on the large number of threads created to discuss these viewing options.

Please note that you generally need a highspeed connection to access these feeds. Also note that channels on TVUPlayer and Sopcast can regularly appear and disappear at the discretion of the kind individuals hosting them.

TVUPlayer

Relevant channels:

RaptorsTV (sometimes)

MSG (sometimes)

NBATV

ESPN1 and ESPN2

Sopcast

On Sopcast you are more likely to find feeds related to specific events (i.e. games). You will often find games that are broadcast on FSN being shown through this app.

Turkish Channel

Check this link out when there are Magic games. Chances are, its available for viewing. Coz of hedo Turkoglu.

LOL! I know this might start another funny and looooooong thread, but with all this break (read as resting time) we should play the same type of game we did against Chicago of run and gun. Here it comes..... if we do, I would put Dooling to start and bring Arroyo from the bench since he is better at that type of game than Jameer, and he should be very hungry (read as motivated, lol) to play. <<ducking the unidentified flying objects>> Now, before anyone start critizing, stop for a minute and think hard about it... This will throw the Kings off. (I meant my plan, not that you are thinking hard for once!) That is a GREAT strategy! <<vowing to the almost dephening cheers of my peers here in the Board... same ones who just a second ago launched perishable projectiles using my head as point of impact!>>. lol

ORLANDO - Tony Battie, Keyon Dooling and Trevor Ariza, the Orlando Magic's best on-ball defenders, were on the floor together earlier this week for the first time since Dec. 29, a span of 35 games.

So it was no coincidence that with Battie, Dooling and Ariza finally healthy at the same time, the Magic delivered one of their best defensive efforts of the season.

And playing better defense, as they did in Wednesday's win against Utah when they forced 22 turnovers, has an obvious trickle-down effect. Better defense fueled the Magic's seemingly lost running game, one that produced 26 fast-break points and 24 shots that were either layups or dunks.

"When we play good defense it always seems to carry over to our offense and gets us going," said Battie, the veteran power forward who was quite vocal during the Magic's player/coach meeting earlier in the week. "You could just see that the defense we played was contagious. With Keyon hawking the ball it gives teams less time on the shot clock. With Trevor pressuring the wings it makes entry passes tougher. It was contagious for everybody."

If the Magic (30-36) are going to salvage their season and get into the playoffs for the first time since 2003, they will likely need more defensive efforts like the one in the 101-90 defeat of Utah. They play host to the struggling Sacramento Kings tonight and the Magic are eager to see if they culled any momentum from Wednesday's win.

"The question now is can we build on (Wednesday's win)?" Dooling asked. "Can we use one victory to sort of slingshot us and get us back on the kind of tear that we had at the end of last season?"

The tear Dooling was referring to was late last season when Orlando went 16-4 and came within a whisker of making the playoffs. It might take the same sort of spurt this season what with the bottom third of the Eastern Conference standings jumbled up like a 10-car pileup on I-95.

Orlando has gotten heaps of help of late, incredibly jumping from 10th in the East into a tie for seventh. New York and Indiana lost Wednesday when the Magic won, and New Jersey fell at home to Miami on Thursday night.

Magic coach Brian Hill knows his team is in crisis mode every game the rest of the way, and he's adjusted his player rotations accordingly. He used a playoff-like eight players on Wednesday, the fewest he's used in 66 games this season. For the time being, Carlos Arroyo and Keith Bogans -- usually top reserves at point guard and shooting guard -- have been benched in favor of Dooling and rookie J.J. Redick.

And Battie, who returned Wednesday after missing 16 games with a broken right thumb, will start a second consecutive tonight even though Darko Milicic is expected to return to the lineup. Milicic couldn't play Wednesday because of a sciatic nerve problem in his lower back and leg, forcing Battie into more minutes that he expected.

That could be bad news for Milicic, who is hoping to impress the Magic and other teams before he becomes a restricted free agent this summer. The 21-year-old is in line for a major pay increase, but his value is still very much up in the air because of his youth and the inconsistent nature of his game.

Milicic has played much better this season as a starter as opposed to a reserve. He's averaging 9.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.13 blocks in 16 starts compared to 7.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 49 games as a reserve.

"The group we had out there the other night seemed to work pretty good so we'll start the same way (tonight)," Hill said, referring to the decision to start Battie over Milicic. "My intention is to keep the rotation the same way it was. We're hoping to get a carryover, but to get that we've got to play the same way. That means getting defensive stops and getting out and getting easy baskets."

Hill has been on starting point guard Jameer Nelson and Arroyo all season to extend their defense and pick up opposing point guards farther out on the court. Instead, that job now goes to Dooling, whose specialty is making life difficult for opposing point guards.

Whereas Dooling spent most of this season working in tandem with Arroyo, he now replaces the demoted point guard. And he said that it's his defense, not his offense, that he's most focused on.

"It's refreshing to me, letting me do what I do best -- picking up the ball full court, bringing energy to the game," he said. "For us to jell, you have to bring something to the table outside of scoring. We needed some intangibles, and that's what I plan on bringing."
