Official Draft Thread 3.0

@WojYahooNBA

Sacramento has been aggressive in trying to move up from seventh in the draft, league sources tell Y! Likely target: Ben McLemore.

Number 2 for Evans and number 7? LOL

I doubt Ben will drop to #7

Who would the Kings give up? All I can think of draft picks and Cousins but I doubt they want to deal with a headcase

And that trade would be awful for the Magic

No one will be happy with whatever happens until that first summer league game. That is when the new rookie will ascend into God-like status on the forums.

Ha, exactly.

For me personally (as long as it isn't Zeller at #2) I'll be probably happy... but yes, I'll be one of the worst culprits of ascending that guy to God-like status after his first summer league game. :shard:

Edit: Poopsicles. Its amazing how easy it is to misread things once the drinking has commenced. It's only going to get worse, but in the meantime...GO MAGIC!

Magic: Tyreke Evans & #7

Kings: #2 + Whatever it took to make it work ( Cash etc )

I haven't looked just speculating.

Here is what I think (hope?) happens tonight:

Magic take Oladipo #2

Minnesota takes McCollum, or Carter-Williams #9

Minnesota takes Bullock, Crabbe, Snell, Rice, or Ledo #26

Trade announced

Magic get rights #9, #26, & Greg Steimsma

Minnesota gets rights #2 & Nicholson

This makes the salary cap numbers almost exactly balance

Leaves us with:

PG Nelson/#9/Moore

SG Afflalo/Lamb/#26

SF Harkless/Jones/#26

PF Harris/Davis/O'Quinn

C Vucevic/Steimsma

If neither McCollum or Carter-Williams is available, then I think you go Caldwell-Pope at #9, and Lorenzo Brown, Erick Green, or Nate Wolters at #26 and maybe try to pick up an additional free agent PG. Obviously you switch out the #9 and #26 on depth chart above.

Then, if we are playing too well, you can always tinker with the line-up to "give new guys playing time/evaluate"

Starting lineup of

#9/#26/Jones/O'Quinn/Steimsa

and primarily using Moore to backup the 1, Lamb at the 2, Harkless at the 3, and BBD at the 4/5

shouldn't win us too many games.

Give Nelson, Afflalo, Harkless, Harris and Vucevic only 15-18 minutes each - maybe even DNP-CD one or two of them each game.

@WojYahooNBA

Utah likes Dennis Schroeder a great deal (14 and 21), and scant chance Nets (22) and Pacers (23) let guard reach New York, sources tell Y!
