Tank Vogel 191 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 I feel Dwight would drastically reduce the chances of re-signing Ibaka.
Magicman28 295 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 He's a baby and not what he once was, but the fact remains that we've been one of the worst teams in the league since he left. Because of his ties here he might be the only high quality starter Rob can convince to come here. As it stands right now Rob is relying on, once again, his draft picks to all work out exactly as he hoped they would. How often does that happen? It's rare. Re-signing/signing players to what appear to be favorable contracts means absolutely nothing if those players don't give you a chance to win a championship. As it stands right now we have a zero percent chance of competing for a championship next year. It's still early and trades are always an option but nobody would have been happy with this type of offseason a month ago, not one single person. Magic fans, and I suppose all fans, have a way of turning average into amazing when they realize average is all they're going to get. We need better players, it's as simple as that. There was only one guy who would've shifted things dramatically and we just don't have a Westbrook to offer him.
Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 POR is down to ~$7 million in space with cap holds for Leonard, Harkless, Crabbe still on the books. Anyone want harkless back?
Magicman28 295 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 Disagree. Solid defense can give you a chance to win any game and with Dwight playing next to Ibaka, provided both remain healthy, we'd automatically be one of the better defenses in the league provided AG turns into what many of you believe he will, Elfrid takes another step, and Fogel gets things sorted out. If AG and Elfrid don't take that next step, none of this matters anyways. The problem is no one will come if Dwight came. No one of legitimacy wants to play with him. Spaceman 58 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 I think Henny has done an excellent job of addressing weaknesses (outside shooting and rim protection) and still has been able to save a huge amount of $$ for some more moves. Good day so far.
Voodoo Man 99 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 The problem is no one will come if Dwight came. No one of legitimacy wants to play with him. You do realize that no free agent of legitimacy would even consider an interview with us this year, right? We signed Ibaka which seemed to excite some hometown fans, but it apparently didn't impress anybody else. Dwight isn't going to scare anybody away because we are not on their list to begin with. Besides, I look for Boston to sign him and pay him either 4/90 or possibly 3/75. I also see Dwight having a turn around season because he won't have to play with the biggest ball hog in the NBA.
HighAngleDad 36 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 Pardon me for mentioning this, but aren't we still trying to recover from the first time the Dwightmare was here? If we signed D12, would this excite you or kill any mojo Henny built for us today? We're loaded with 3-point players ...
