GameThread: Charlotte Hornets @ Orlando Magic

That's the same philosophy we had under Stan. Analytics show that going for offensive rebounds gives minimal benefit and you leave yourself open to fast break points which are converted at a much higher rate.

That's all fine, but how do we still suck at fast break defense too? I'd rather suck at transition D and grab some offensive rebounds a long the way.

Actually we're in the middle of the pack at #16 for opponents fast break points. The link below also indicates we pretty much suck at everything offensively except 3 point shooting % (#6) and points in the paint (#15).

That list was depressing. We are so bad in so many different areas:

29th: Blocks Per Game

28th: Points Per Game

24th: Fast Break Points (wasn't this supposed to be our bread and butter?)

26th: Assists Per Game

28th: Total Rebounds

It was nice to see were ranked 14th in defensive PPG. I would think that number goes up when AG returns.

For all the talk about how we give up so many offensive boards the Magic are ranked #6 in both DREB% and Opp. OREB/g. It's possible we notice OREBs more because we barely get any ourselves (worst in the league).

It's depressing to see us ranked so low in FTA/g and FT%.

Statistically it looks like we're a below average (verging on middle of the pack) defensive team and a terrible offensive team.

Offense has just as much to do with the system as it does with the players. It's not like we don't have anyone on our team who is able to generate offense. A coaching system can literally make or break a team (look at the Knicks trying to put in a style of offense that just isn't them).
