Interesting article on Pops. This coach has been a lot more open to roster changes to keep his stars fresh, and it paid for them this year. Seeing more minutes from guys like Orton and Ish Smith made me scratch my head. Why has Stan been holding on us while making his "stars" gassed out for the playoffs? Injuries to Dwight, Turk, and inconsistent play by J Rich -- these are the results of the shortened season. Stan is still a great coach, but Stan's stubborness could be the end of him. He should learn a little from Pops.

Because Pop Is a great coach and he recognizes his star players are old,so he develops the young guys during the regular season while keeping his vets rested for the playoffs.SVG is the opposite he loves vets (Duhon),and doesn't trust the young guys.

Good point. Plus, with this shortened season, we could have easily been the darkhorse of the east -- if only our players aren't gassed out or injured come playoff time. It's like Stan beat up the best in us, and now we are stuck playing those scrubs he didn't want to play in the first place. Lots of sense huh ... Makes one wonder. Maybe Dwight is right ...

Maybe the draft choices by the Spurs (one of the best teams in the league at drafting young talent) happen to be significantly better than the draft choices by the Magic, thus giving Pops a better opportunity to play his young guys.

You don't have to look hard to find young guys that Stan put on the court. It's not like it's something he never does, so maybe it would be smarter to look a little more in depth at the situation rather than ranting about how Stan never plays his young guys.

Stan is not very tolerant of mistakes and young players make a lot of them.....which is why you don't see many young players in his rotation.

He is however a great teacher in practice but not having a full training camp and pre-season really set back our rookies. If they pick things up he is not afraid to play them as he did with Courtney Lee.

this is why SVG will never win a championship and why Pop is one of the best, SVG's inability to try young players constantly hurts us, hes gotta go

Our young players suck compared to the Spurs young players. The guys we have at this very moment arent very good and its not because they havent gotten playing time. Its because they havent spent long enough developing. You don't need game time to develop.

I can't stand these remarks.

Stan has taken young players and has developed them. JJ...Anderson...Lee...Stan does more important things than just play em.

Man you guys are just completely oblivious. What about Courtney Lee? He started on our FINALS team. It is obvious that WE HAVE NO GOOD YOUNG TALENT. Atleast compared to an A list organization like the Spurs who have drafted WAY WAY WAY better that us.

Stan didn't develop Lee. He just gave Lee an opportunity. It took Ryan 3 years to learn's Stan's defense.

So, which is it, does Stan not develop young players, or does he not give them an opportunity, because several of you keep claiming both things with what I can only describe is the hope that the more often you say a thing, the more people will actually believe that it's true. The funny thing is, no matter how you want to define it, there are examples on both sides to show that it just isn't true.

No matter how many times people claim Stan doesn't give young guys a chance, or doesn't develop young players, saying something repeatedly doesn't make it so.

Courtney Lee earned a starting spot on this team as a rookie, and kept that starting position on our finals run.

JJ Redick put in a lot of work to develop as a player, under Stan, to become a quality role player/part time starter.

Anderson has captured the starting PF spot in his third year under Stan, taking two years, not three, to earn that position and display over the course of this season both with and without Dwight, that he deserves that spot.

Gortat developed under Stan, but he wasn't going to get many minutes behind Dwight, for obvious reasons.
