2016-2017 Season Discussion Thread
God Hates Otis Smith replied to Fultz4thewin's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
The thing with Green is Vogel has to realize when he doesn't have it and go with someone else. "Good Jeff" can be a valuable player, "Bad Jeff" is a guy who actively hurts your team, IDK what it is with this guy. He has 4 straight games in double figures, we should have won all 4 -
you cant go off raw ppg, efficiency is more important, also the league has a lot of average and bad teams, how will we score against good teams? that is what the league comes down to
-
this is called confirmation bias, you already decided you hated him before he ever played a game
-
when you adjust for the % of cap biyombo is taking the money falls in line with what he would have gotten under old system. him and serge are both elite in terms of fg% at the rim defense, and they can both blow up pick and roll which makes them very valuable defensively. biyombo plays hard and does not demand the ball he will get a lot of offensive rebounds and dunks.
-
the magic have the elements to be an elite defensive team, but can they score? that will be the key to it all...

Vuc - Should he stay or go?

the magic need people who can score the ball, i see alot of people saying others could score with that many shots or w/e....a lot of players just can't get off that many shots because they aren't that good. i think the magic will commit to a 3 man big rotation and always have a biyombo or ibaka out there with him to cover his weaknesses. if you trade vooch then you really have nobody to score, and it's one less guy to stretch the floor -
the trade sucks, it's not that ibaka is a bad player but you have to acknowledge a 3 year statistical decline and can leave us for nothing next season oladipo you have control of, but trading him now means you commit to fournier. the magic overpaid plain and simple, and there are knee concerns with ibaka

harrison barnes is not good. stay away

2017 Playoffs or Henny is Fired
God Hates Otis Smith replied to barnettej's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
the magic are taking short cuts, and it started when they hired skiles, this ibaka trade is completely ridiculous, they have basically decided chasing the 8th seed is worth a possible 1 year rental. they gave up a player they had control of AND the 11th pick, then it comes out the raps offered 9 and filler. ibaka has been on the decline for 3 years and has knee concerns, again this comes back to short cuts, hennigan has now boxed himself into having to give fournier a max deal because of the fact he traded oladipo. i have been a hennigan supporter but i can't defend this, the magic are being roasted for such a short sighted trade. let's say ibaka does re-sign next year and has a good season.....great then you are locked into ibaka and fournier as two max players on your roster. -
i don't think dwight is the one to blame for the houston situation, that rests on the ball hog who refuses to play any defense
-
i think it comes down to the fact the magic will have a tough time recruiting top free agents in this climate where a bunch of teams can offer max money. then you look at the type of team Vogel wants, he's going to want a center who can defend pick n roll and the rim, a motivated dwight can do that, but so could some other guys i think this all comes down to how things play out, if the magic miss on horford i think they'll look this direction
-
well for all dwights flaws, hard work is not one of them, secondly the magic have to deal with reality and that is maybe not many will come here without a massive overpay
-
Bucher thinks Dwight is going to come back he said Magic management is warming up to it
-
I'd rather have Fournier over Barnes any day of the week, Barnes is a bit player on a great team.
-
haven't we learned our lesson from the "magic connection" bs? we do not need any local connections. but i fear the magic will pay noah absurd money when he's pretty much done
