Problem is Golden State came out the day after and told the public they hadnt talk to Orlando about moving Ellis there remember? Said the only thing they would talk to Orlando about is renting Dwight which 'then' they would gladly move him there. In other words, Magic were just trying to get him to sign on the dotted line

ESPN reported various times we were trying to get Ellis

From Berger from March 13:

The most difficult aspect of Bogut going to Golden State in the three-team scenario that would send Ellis to Orlando is Howard's apparent reluctance to commit one way or the other by Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline.

Dwight is full of it, imho. Dwight wants full freedom and no responsibility or accountability.

Any chance we sign Nash, Allen or Garnett?

I doubt it. I don't think we are a hotspot for aging ring chasers at all with Dwight's future cloudy and I think we are done with the Otis way of spending money now and worry about tommorrow when it comes. Even if Dwight stays.

Right, we were TRYING, didn't mean Golden State wanted to give us him. As you recall, new reports came out after that saying that the owner did NOT want to help us keep D12 because he himself wanted Dwight on his team.

This doesn't sound right. Dwight waived his ETO WITHOUT us getting Ellis. Why wouldn't he commit if we got him?

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/13/report-warriors-owner-kills-monta-ellis-to-orlando/

"Warriors owner Joe Lacob has no interest in sending Monta Ellis to Orlando to help the Magic keep Dwight Howard, wanting instead to preserve his own slim chances of landing the All-Star center, league sources told CBSSports.com Tuesday.

The Magic’s attempt to put together a three-team deal that would’ve sent Ellis to Orlando and
from Milwaukee to Golden State didn’t pass muster with the Warriors’ owner. The scenario was motivated by the Magic’s ongoing efforts to appease Howard by acquiring a top-flight talent in the hopes that he stays."

There was never an agreed deal

Otis once called Vince fools gold and told Portland not getting Hedo was the best thing that ever happened to them. Guys say stuff all of the time. 99% of it in the media is not true.
