Shine88 89 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 Looks like they're really trying to make a run at LeBron and another one of the top free agents. I actually like their chances of getting LeBron better than the Knicks. Knick fans should be hoping for Stoudemire and Johnson, because LeBron ain't coming. Miguel3107 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 Otis is a mastered mind!! He was thinking on this summer last season when he matched Gortat offer from Dallas and signed and traded Hedo. He tried to improve our team with an excellent player as Carter (was), surprise for everybody on july 1st, that did not worth the investment. He is also reading the speculation of a possible move from James and Bosh to Miami. Don't get astonished if he trades Carter for a future draft pick and use Gortat, Bass and trade exception to splash a great, all star players, like Nowitzki or two good players like Rudy Gay and Josh Smith. Carter would be a great fit for at least half NBA teams with cap space for just one year contract and for who wants to sell more tickets! Just like Otis always says: " It's all about winning a championship" [Great players like Malone that 'prefer to stay' did not get a ring, because when he tried, was already to late]
Shine88 89 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 quote: According to ESPN's Ric Bucher, the Cavaliers aren't willing to work out a sign-and-trade should LeBron James decide to leave Cleveland. If this is true, it knocks the Mavericks out of contention for LeBron even before free agency begins. As Dallas is over the salary cap, they would need a sign-and-trade to make the numbers work. http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas...is-bad-news-for-mavs

We could get good player at the trade deadline, so why would Otis even consider picks.
Miguel3107 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2010 Best way to get rid of that kind of money or a sign and trade, but most teams with all stars will not sign and trade so Orlando could be better, i guess.... Moreover... It Just happened!! http://www.hoopsworld.com/TheWireStory.asp?id=25787

They have Gasol and young prospects Thabeet/Hadidi at Center and Z.Randolph at PF already so why do they want Gortat? If they are trying to cut salary by taking on VC's contract for a year - why not just let Gay walk and try to get a younger cheaper prospect - why pay 18 million for a 1 yr old man rental? Only thing I can possibly see that they might want is a trade including Jameer because they dont think that OJ Mayo/M. Conley are in their future - and if so then is losing your franchise player's best friend/all star PG/team captain worth Rudy Gay who can score but is notoriously slack on defense...
