I always hear this when one of our players guards Kobe, Lebron or Wade.

Well, they still got over 30 points.

These guys are going to get their points so you can't just measure sucess by their point total.

IMO, you measure sucess on two things,

1. How many shots did it take for him to get the points.

2. Did we win.

It took 30 Kobe shots to get 34 points.

We won.

Good job Matt.

As an added plus, now Gasol is complaining that Kobe took too many shots.

Good job Matt.

30 shots to score 34 points is actually pretty bad.

I guess I took too long to type mine. Good thinking there DOM.

I can't wait until we have someone that bad on our team again...

but seriously DOM, Kobe was free for large portions of that game, he created separation on a bunch of jumpers, got free on pick and rolls a lot...ok, you succeeded in lowered FG% (maybe) where exactly was the stoppage?

Well, Barnes himself said he didn't "stop" Kobe, and that point isn't really relevant regardless.

If Kobe(or anyone else) hits a turnaround, fadeaway 3 with time running down on the shotclock, good for him. That's a shot you want him taking.

Kobe took a LOT of ridiculous shots in the second half. In the the latter half of the 4th, he got hot and was hitting them. Fine. Kobe's a great player. But you want him taking those shots. A step-back, long two is a great shot to force a player into because it's so inefficient. Statistically, that shot is more likely to be missed than made.

So no, Barnes didn't "shut Kobe down". He did however force Kobe to waste a TON of possessions forcing up bad shots. That's a success.

I think Schmidtz is trying to piss Otis off. Everyone else in the media world is talking playoffs and Schmidtz keeps writing stuff about the off season (contracts and trades).

It's not like the team could anything about it right now even if they wanted to. If Matt helps us win it all, he won't have to worry about getting paid.

The name Kobe Stopper needs to be stopped lol

Nobody can stop guys like Kobe or Lebron. Most guys catch them on an off night and take credit for stopping them LOL. The only people slowing them down are themselves, like having an off night or lingering injury.

And I agree with DOM, defenders can make them work harder to get open and take difficult shots. Thats about as good as defense gets against Kobe.

Give me a break. Anyone attempting 30 shots is gonna put up a decent amount of points.
