I agree though. Dude, a lot of people still play Gears 1 because they prefer it. Well, I was playing ranked but I quit in May. Played way too much, got to top 3,000 people in the world. I wouldn't go that far. When it was just one of the many genres, it gave some absolutely awesome games, and even more games wouldn't have existed were it not for that genre. I mean, Portal is a puzzle game, but it would have never have existed without Half-life, which itself wouldn't have existed without Duke Nukem, Quake and Doom. And lets not forget the wonderous wonderfulness that was Goldeneye 007 for the N64. The bigger issue is that now seemingly EVERY game has to be an FPS or a sports game. Jareth Cutestory 678 Report post Posted July 23, 2009 Play Bioshock and it will rejuvenate your interest in FPS's. But I do agree, they get tiresome. I think the fact that online play has become so prominent has really helped the genre however. I do miss the days of old side scrollers though, but 360 Arcade has helped me with that. Castle Crashers, Bionic Commando: Re-armed, and Braid have brought back games like that with a modern twist. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
