    Magic sign Channing Frye

Not a huge fan of this one. He's better than what we have but isn't going to be a core guy. With the 2 rooks we need shooting any way we can get it. Year 4 has to be a team option.

Does Henny know what he is doing poll?

After Otis, Henny is like a breath of fresh air. Years of incompetence has been replaced with someone who knows what he is doing.

Those people don't get it. People on here pretend to know a lot about Exum but really don't. Randle is a good player but in the nba he is a second option on a poor team and is set to be a rugged, undersized pf. Vonleh I can't believe was ever seriously considered. Smart is the only other guy and imo not as good of a prospect. If the Magic are in the lottery again next season we won't have to draft for a single position of need because Gordon can play either forward effectively. With the diversity in today's skill set that is unbelievably important. These type of things don't really show well on draftexpress. Haven't seen much of Payton. I'll have to watch some game videos of him.

Gordon was a smart pick at 4. Great athlete and defender. Gives the team a great sense of versatility. Able to play the 3 or 4 in the nba. Can step up to defender the pick n roll or slide back to protect the rim. One of those who guys who just gets it and knows how to play. Will need to improve his shot but its not far off to think he can be a decent 3 pt shooter in a few years. With his skill set decent is all he needs. Also Hennigen great roster flexibility because he can play with anyone. So if we are able to land a top fa he can take on a myriad of rolls to compliment that player.

Agreed. Without knowing his medical in full details as fans we have to judge by what we have seen in game and what we believe will or will not transfer to the next level. To me he is the better prospect than Wiggins and Parker. People saying this and that about Exum but don't know as much about his game as they do the college kids.

For all you whiners about the draft lottery

What a horrible idea. I would much rather see tanking than have the possibility that the top 3 teams in the league end up with the top 3 draft picks. It is not beyond reason that some of these teams aren't tanking, but really are that bad. Why not just restructure the lottery odds? That makes a hell of a lot more sense.

    Goal this year

In this order. 1. Get a top 3 pick. 2. Suck bad enough to get a top 3 pick 3. lose enough games to land a top 3 pick 4. Oladipo to play consistent and flash potential all star abilities 5. Seeing Harkless continue to grow

Thank god Otis is no longer running the team or this might actually be a possibility.
  9. What other reasons would be acceptable? There isn't a player on the team who we can say will be a fixture on all stars teams for years to come. If we sign Brandan Wright he serves as nothing more than a gap filler. So what is the point? I want guys who either have a chance to grow with the team or become a valuable asset at the trade deadline. He isn't really either of those things.
  10. I voted no. Seems like he is a guy who could help us win.
  11. I found the article to be a little distasteful. Sportswriters do great jobs of passing themselves as news reporters.

Is it too early to start talking rookie of the year? Bennett has got to be the front runner. Shabazz is another likely candidate.

WWE was what that other guy said. I was directly referring the comments that were replies to my previous post. The implementation of the nba lottery was one of the best ideas by Stern. It eliminated the increasingly louder accusations of teams tanking and gave the nba direct control over where the top players in draft land if they so choose so. The NBA of the early 80's was the Lakers, Celtics, and that was it. No other teams were relevant and received literally no tv coverage. Stern's first year at the helm, the 83-84 season was the focus of teams tanking with the prize being 1 of 5 potential superstars in Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Sam Bowie, Sam Perkins, and Charles Barkley. He quickly realized that these guys are centerpieces for teams to build around. 1985 the lottery is in place as the Ewing Sweepstakes except now the bottom 7 teams all have an equal shot. Ewing was named a can't miss prospect who is a force. He led his college team to 3 straight ncaa championship appearences. What better scenario could there have been then for the largest market in the nation to land this guy? Seriously the other options were Golden State, Atlanta, Indiana, Sacramento, Seattle, the Clippers lol. Btw had there not have been a lottery Ewing would have ended up on either GS or Ind. There are plenty of other instances to examine like us getting Shaq and Webber in back-to-back years. 1999 Bulls win the lottery after Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Jackson all depart. How about 2000 with the Nets winning. The pick might have been Kenyon Martin, but do you know who the gm of the Nets was and where he was the years prior? 2003 Lebron to Cleveland. 2008 Rose to the hometown Bulls. Kyrie to Cleveland the next year and winning again this season. The Hornets winning in 2012 while under nba control. There is a reason teams like Sacramento, Memphis, and Minnesota never seem to improve on there draft standing. The NBA is a business.

Who said anything about the league being scripted? This isn't WWE. Ultimately the league cannot control the decision of a free agent just like they can't control the outcome of the game, but it does have a strong ability to influence things. It is clear as day if you go back and watch game 6 of the Lakers/Kings in 2002 or Heat/Mavs in 2006. Until Donaghey started to bring things to light Lebron was allowed to straight up bull rush people and draw fouls. In no way is lowering your shoulder to purposely initiate contact not an offense foul unless you have a desire to market. Same as 2 steps and hop is a travel every time unless you don't call it. Stern suspended the largest star in league history for a whole season and got him to publicly announce he was retiring so not tarnish the league's image. If you don't believe that go back and read stories about how much money MJ was indebted in the six figures to big time cocaine dealers. You cannot be serious if think Lebron in Cleveland is no less desirable than Lebron in Miami. This is marketing 101. Larger cities have larger populations which leads to a larger target audience. There is a large gap when it comes to tv rights between say Minnesota and LA. Kevin Love doesn't receive notary as the best pf in the game because he is stuck in a ****hole. Teams like LA, NY, and Boston have national followings. Find me die hard T-wolves fan outside of MN. If the Celtics completely suck they still have a fan base add in Lebron or whoever and all of sudden them with Lebron are the hottest thing in sports. Why do you think Stern pushes small market relo's? A large portion of the league's revenue is from advertising and endorsements. The money generated from ticket sales means very little. Sure Lebron sold out the Quicken Loans and had a Nike contract but not to the magnitude that he would playing for Miami. It has nothing to do with trying to justify anything. I have no hatred for any player or team. Outside of Orlando I have no emotional attachments to anyone or team in the NBA. This are my opinions which I have formed through reading, visual observations, and having experience in business.

Stern is a brilliant, brilliant man. There is a certain naivety by those who are either to blind or refuse to see it. Stern is best marketer is the history of professional sports. Unlike football we can see the faces of the players. So many casual fans follow the player as opposed to a team. Naturally this caters to the larger markets where a Carmelo Anthony in NY will a much larger fan base and following then he would Denver.
