    Update from Three Separate Sources

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/t...hine?tradeId=39svw9c who doesn't do this? NO gets Meer and the expiring contract of VC plus rids themselves of the messy contracts they've been trying to shed. Toronto only picks up only marginal salary and a true center to pair with Bargnani. More importantly they get rid of Hedo who has been a major headache for them and who has been rumored to be moving. That brings us to Orlando who swaps Posey with Pietrus, gets CP3, swaps Hedo with VC, and gets a backup PG, though they pick up salary. Though orlando is getting the most out of the deal, NO is fulfilling all their perceived demands and Toronto rids themselves of Hedo, something they've wanted. Mind you Okafor and Hedo are both on the books for 5 years and Okafor is less then 2 mill more and 3 years younger. Thoughts?

No, whoever said they got Mayo must have been kidding because they stop updating the rosters after the season ends so that people will buy the game for next year. Just gotta buy 2K9

    Chris Bosh (link)

I can't believe this is even a discussion. YES, it would be absolutely insane to have Bosh here. Bosh and Dwight are going to be starting in the allstar game together for years to come, having them on the Magic would be incredible. My honest belief is that Hedo won't be traded this off-season. If we are to get rid of him, it will probably be at the deadline for a couple of firsts. Doesn't sound great but let's be realistic. Other than that we might get a decent player to fill in. Boozer, Artest, J. O'Neal, Crawford, Marion, Bryant, Hamilton, Wallace, Iverson, & Kidd are the "high class" unrestricted free agents next year. If we don't resign Hedo (which I personally hope we don't unless we can get him cheap), out of those guys Boozer, Artest, Marion, and Kobe (maybe O'Neal) are the only guys I see worthy to go after and we all know Kobe isn't going anywhere. Boozer is going to want a max contract eliminating him in my mind (since we will still have too many players under contract) and Marion is going to command a lot of money as well. The only player there that may be willing to come in for decent money is Artest who Otis may or may not hate. So unless we throw all our money at Hedo or a bunch or decent guys with that money we will have it all for Bosh or whoever the year after. I know this is all speculation but I see that as a very possible scenario in my mind and since reading the article I've had a lot jumbling up there. It just seems to me Otis is thinking Bosh right now. By signing Air France through 2010 alone shows that he isn't trying to conserve money at the moment otherwise I'm sure he could have gotten away with putting a team option in there. It just seems to me that a lot of the people on this board are content with keeping Hedo and the way the team is now for a few years and I think that's laughable. I'm not content only going to the ECF or making it past the first round every year. I want a championship and resigning Hedo and having him and Rashard in their 30s together for years to come doesn't excite me. The Rashard signing for that much money was a bad mistake and we need to start planing a bit for the future. Aging big contracts aren't the way to go, and if my scenario is plausible then at least we are going for it all even if it isn't instant gratification, not just the second round.
  8. quote: Originally posted by CaliMagicFan:I think in the end this doesn't get done. Wallace is now backed into a corner where he's got to get something substantial for Critt. He can't go to the fans with Fran/2nd rounder and still sell that they're trying to be competitive, especially since their financial situation is apparently so tough. It kind of seems like he's between a rock and a hard place now, and I don't think Otis is going to give up a 1st for him. The Memphis fans and some scouts tell us Critt is probably either a scoring point or a combo guard than a true "run the team" point. Why would Otis give up the farm for him when he's already got a scoring point starting for him, and just drafted a guy who could be a combo guard in the first round this year? 100% right. I think the biggest issue is the 1st rounder. If we get out of this with a 1st, JJ, and Bogans still in tact, we potentially go to the deadline with 4 assets (if we include Turk as an asset). We give up the first and we give up too much leverage. I also have a hard time believing that Critt is worth anything and a first. The guy is totally unproven and can't even stick in Memphis. I get he was a first round pick and has upside, but any other first round pick ever can be described the same way. Next year we could always just draft a combo guard, or, for that matter, a true point. We give up a first and we've backed ourselves into a corner and if memphis doesn't get a first they've backed themselves into a corner.
  9. quote: Originally posted by BigPapa:I hope Otis sign Powell... and as far as 3rd string SF, Bogans would suffice. PG: Nelson, ?____________, Johnson SG: Pietrus, Lee, Reddick SF: Turk, Bogans PF: Lewis, Battie, Cook CC: Howard, Gortat, Powell All we would need is that 3rd PG. no way this guy can play center for this team. he's 6'9. he'd be shorter than both the PF and center (shard and turk). he'd get killed inside. on the other hand if you play him next to dwight at the 4 that might work

The Falcons gave that fancy-shpancy quarterback a huge contract to carry them single-handedly to the Super.... Huh? He did WHAT? Oh, never mind.... Hey!!! don't talk s**t about Chris Chandler... wait... O nevermind... um... I support Peta

D12 talked to Josh about it, but Orlando does not have the assets to do this deal. (Regardless of what you think of Hedo) Just curious, if you actually think Prince has more value than Hedo???? Ahh yes I do. And most NBA GMs would agree. The Hedo homerisim on here is ridiculous. Agreed. Not only does he have more value generally speaking as a player, but Hedo's contract is also expiring meaning that any team that has him on the roster through the season is going to have to pay up to resign him. That's the only reason I see Sac as the only true trade partner for us, regardless whether its Artest we possibly get or not. My opinion is they are the only team that have him valued that highly. Hedo has only had one good season, and before last year was an after thought in pretty much everyone's mind which is why Otis pushed so hard (if not too hard) for Shard. I sincerely hope that the Magic are that EC big dog cause Smith on this team, in my opinion, along with another backup point, makes us the EC favorite. Here's the article Smith Trade Article
  14. i've personally never been against the prospect of trading for Critt, but I've never been that for it either. I've always seen Critt as a younger version of Keyon Dooling. He's the same taller type combo guard who can play defense since he's taller and more athletic than most point guards, can score, but isn't much of a distributor. For anyone who thinks he's gonna be our long term starter, I think you're nuts. I'm not a huge Jameer fan, but he showed glimpses last year and has great camaraderie with Dwight. The only reason I'm not against this trade is because I personally think both Redick and Bogans aren't necessary in any fashion towards this team's success (though i think Bogans right now can help us more than JJ). Well that and Dooling's energy last year was big off of the bench so a player with that kind of skill set would fill Keyon's role nicely. Other than that, I don't see what Javaris has to offer. I just think Otis and Stan really want someone to play defense on the point guards we face after Chauncey, Stucky, and Calderon killed Jameer last year and they realize Anthony Johnson isn't that guy in the long term. JJ and a first would be more than fair and in my opinion too much for a guy neither team really needs. That and i think the sentiment from Curly that JJ doesn't have his shot and might not have it in the future just isn't valid. JJ has never gotten any consistent time on the court to even almost get into a rhythm. You can't just say arguably the most prolific 3 point shooter in college lost his shot from his 2 minute long, throw away minute times off the bench. The guy can shoot, he's just never gonna get that opportunity in Orlando. i understand the fear after the Casey Jacobson fiasco, but that guy has always been terrible, lets me honest. I don't think anyone expected him to be a Kapono type player, or even a decent one (I know I didn't). JJ has at least the chance to be.
