  1. Wow, you really love playing armchair GM. I advise you to sit back, breathe, wait a bit, and then talk about/discuss/debate actual substantiated rumors, or even--gasp--real trades themselves. It'd save you a lot of time and energy. I like that picture, by the way, Jareth. I'm a gad-about-town!

Mike Miller for JJ, 2 expirings and a future pick Then Turk for Shelden Williams(and filler) Giving us this lineup: Jameer/Dooling Miller/Bogans Shard/Ariza Williams/Gortat Dwight/Foyle Seems like a very nice mix of offense-defense, youth-experience. What is your objection with that? The fact that neither the Hawks nor the Grizzlies would do those trades.

  4. quote: Ok, I will play a long. Why would a team loaded with young talented SF's (Smith, Marvin Williams, Childress, etc.) trade one of their few rebounders for another SF? Besides, the only way to get the salaries to match up is take on Speedy Claxton's awful contract. That's not how it works, bhnole. You need to throw out a random NBA player

Which is why it won't happen. It looks way too good, and requires too much creativity and thought from a managerial perspective. Yeah, plus there's no indication the Grizzlies or Hawks would do either trade.
  6. We must be working under different definitions of "successful." But I'll drop it. Way off topic.
  7. If the Magic win a championship no one will care what Lewis makes. Just have to wait and see.
  8. Har. I know a lot of successful entrepreneurs. I don
  9. Good god, you people are writing full-length essays debating the pros and cons of Nelson and Arroyo after a couple preseason games in China? Do any of you have jobs? And if so, why aren't you doing them? I demand answers.
  10. I had a feeling the media would come around eventually. Those early-offseason predictions that the Magic would tread water while adding Rashard Lewis were real head-scratchers.

    Clearing the Air

That was great because he clearly got angrier and angrier the more he wrote--toward the end of the post I half-expected him to fly off-topic altogether and starting yelling about kids these days and demanding that people get off his lawn. He
  12. Could be posturing. I'd be surprised if the Magic pick up no one at all, either through trade or free agency.
  13. I don't like the fact that we're moving Lewis to PF and starting Turkoglu to make up for the loss of Battie--could be compounding a problem and making it worse, since the Magic starting five could be scarily defensively incomptent and the bench will be thinner. I

    Tony Battie injury update

The Magic are a multibillion dollar franchise? Devos must be ecstatic! I kid. Breathe, Mr. Daddy. We'll get through this together. Let's at least wait and see how severe the injury is, and how Otis responds, before stringing up the poor man by his choad hair.

    Magic Warlocks official name poll

If we make them the "Orlando Magic Warlocks," can they also wear a magical ring that gives them +6 to dunking?

    Tony Battie injury update

Big difference between sports and business, of course. I doubt any of your employees at said multimillion dollar international corporation have come down with a torn rotator cuff, thus significantly affecting fourth-quarter earnings. As someone mentioned in a Sports Guy mailbag, sports are the toy section of life.

    Tony Battie injury update

You guys don't seem to understand that there's only so much a GM can do. Except in extreme cases (like Grant "Ow, My Verginer Hurts" Hill) you can't prepare for injuries. Thems the facts.

    Tony Battie injury update

Losing Battie hurts no matter how you slice it. How much it hurts depends on who steps up in his absence and/or who Otis gets to replace him. Can't blame management for this one, by the way. No one can prepare for injuries.

    Marion asks for a trade!!

We're not getting Marion for the same reason we're not getting Kirilenko--we don't have enough to offer and the respective teams don't match up well. That said, Marion is an idiot for wanting out of Phoenix.

  24. quote: Originally posted by SmackDaddy: quote: Originally posted by I Rasharted:Of course we should go for it. There's just the small problem of Utah not wanting to take our collection of pencil shavings, stale Apple Jacks and this one really nice paper clip. What alternatives do you see that Utah has? They'll be luck to even get pencil shavings now that Kirilenko has notified the workd that he is willing to walk away from his contract to sign in Europe. I'm not saying that it's the best deal out there, but it's better than Francis, Mobley & Kato for McGrady, and that deal went down. It's nowhere near Francis, Mobley and Cato for McGrady. Francis and Mobley were starters, and Cato was at least a sort of capable big man. That was still 80 cents on the dollar for McGrady, but the deals people are proposing here for Kirilenko are more like two haypennies on the dollar. And I have no idea what alternatives Utah has available right now, but I'd be amazed if there aren't any better than a package involving Pat "Just Shoot Me" Garrity. Put it this way: if I even see the Magic mentioned in rumors for Kirilenko, I'll buy Otis a steak dinner.
