I mean, what the hell are they doing? Giving Travis Outlaw $7 million a year. Really? The only move I like was signing Anthony Morrow to a offer sheet, which supposely GS isn't expected to to match. jj got seven too

My "Who they should play like" Magic Breakdown

Isn't this the same fan base that mocked LeBron's supporting cast in Cleveland for 2 years & correctly predicted their playoff limitations? The same fan base questioning Miami's superiority over Orlando because Mario Chalmers & Udonis Haslem are currently penciled in to join their 3 franchise players in the starting lineup? But, two players w/blatant matchup problems vs. elite players/teams and zero defensive versatility magically maintain Orlando as a legitimate championship contender? I think you'd have to ignore defense all together as OP did to even begin to think this is realistic. Every weakness that has been exploited by opponents for 3 seasons in the playoffs would be exponentially worse with a starting lineup of Anderson-Lewis-Redick-Nelson. JJ can't stay on the court against the likes of S-Jax & Joe Johnson. Anderson can't play against Boston because he's a liability. Solution, make them starters??? This unit is weaker defensively, has less defensive versatility, less ability to create off the bounce, & less athleticism. Promising... gortat did play a lot of pf in the playoffs. I did not like him their but him not playing gives ra more mins. Lewis on the post vs sf is underrated. He will kill a lot of teams there.

Redick offered 3 years $20m from bulls

I think we wait the full seven days and try to sign r.bell from the bobcats or trade carter. If trade carter; we resign jj. If we get bell, we let jj walk.

Why wont Otis use the Trade Excpt. for Duhon?

because there needs to be a trade...

    Shard at the SF

Take Bass and there is to much of it already inside with him and Dwight together (and stronger SF like these guy's could also try to guard Bass) And again I think it would cause more problem on defensive end than advantages on offense against team with stronger and more dangerous SFs(and they all are/will be on contenders teams). Can't imagine it as a more permanent thing. I don't think that bringing a star PF is possible. Like Bosh, Booze, Amare or even Lee calibers. Magic don't have assets attractive enough for S&T. melo, james, and danny (he stands and shoots a lot)are the only real scoring sf... I dont understand the talk that lewis can't guard a lot of sf... iggy is the only other one that comes to mind and he's not a good shooter. Name the magnitude of sfs that will hurt us? BTW, anderson and bass guarded by a sf will kill on the glass, plus they both have pretty go low post/ isolation games them selves. The problem is we dont try to play that style for long stretches. When Howard is on the bench, would be ideal-- feature lewis down low.

    Otis has been awesome!

otis has done a good job in acquiring assets and putting us in a position to fight for the championship. We won 59 games, the last two seasons. The year we sign lewis for 120mil was the year lewis was the best free agent and teams were going to sign and trade for him like Huston. If we lost lewis that year, we may not of had the success we have had. Billups went to the pistons and carter resigned with the nets. (and we all know vince now) Wallace was the only other free agent that was a game changer type player. Lewis as a good sign and necessary. It has worked for us and no one can deny that for our team.
  7. even jj played better than vc, so there is not much more to say. If we did not need a play-making sg, I would say give me Hinrick... lol

    Shard at the SF

quote: Originally posted by Leoben:Is he really gonna have so huge advantage in the post over players like Melo, LeBron, Pierce, Artest ? I don't think so, and how much huge speed and quickness advantage they will have over Rashard ? Defensive nightmare. He has more beef but he's older and slower, he forget how it is to guard players quicker than him, spend more times on perimeter, chase through screens. Also it would be a huge change of system in Orlando, throwing away inside-out game, limiting Dwight offensively a little bit. Pretty big thing. BTW, Lewis killed paul in the post, during the playoffs. scored like 10 straight point on him. It was the game were players got concussions and perkins got kicked out. Boston was forced to play paul at 4 and he got it handed to him. there are not very many sf that can check lewis in the post. If you notice, in the youtub vid, corey meggetty is on lewis and his is a strong guy. There are only two sf that I see giving lewis issues on offense: James and Artest. I think lewis can be a go to guy. SVG does not use him to his fullest. This has to be my biggest problem with SVG. He has one of the most versatile players in the game and only uses him at one position-- PF. I think lewis should have play some sf vs boston. He would have killed paul like he did in that game I stated earlier. Its up to SVG to make the calls and give lewis the ball. I think lewis should have played sf a lot more. He does not have to start at sf but he needs to be used there and given the ball. That is why he is paid 120 mil.

The T(urk)PE expires July 9th and Free Agency starts July 1st. I bet Otis is "firing" hard to get something finished before July 1st I can't wait until we get our next update on things. I have constantly checked this thread.(Even though I know nothing will pop up during the weekend.) I believe the TPE could also net us Shawn Marion, plus weren't there rumors of a Pietrus & Gortat for Caron Butler swap? So, TPE+Pietrus+Gortat for Marion+Butler? TPE can't be combined with package of players or assets. I understand your logic, just can't happen. Think of it like a rebate check for $6.9M but we only are able to absorb a single contract worth up to no more than $6.9M. So a Pietrus/Gortat package could certainly net us a Caron Butler imo (especially how Gortat ironically signed the Mid-Level offer with Dallas, we then later matched) I don't want Marion, he's ineffective (as we saw in Miami and now, Dallas) and certainly on the "decline".. it would be tpe for marion then tat/pietrus-butler Exactly, 2 deals like it was rumored we'd do with NO in giving the TPE for Posey and then Carter/Nelson for Paul. Anyway: pg: Jameer Nelson - (free agent) sg: Vince Carter - J.J. Redick sf: Caron Butler - Shawn Marion - Stan Robinson pf: Rashard Lewis - Brandon Bass - Ryan Anderson ce: Dwight Howard - (free agent) - Daniel Orton carter/nelson for paul wouldn't work under the CBA. I think posey would be involved as well...
  12. I did not see anything positive from vc... Nothing... No defense. No offense. No rebounding. No leadership. No passing. No play-making. No hustle. No Heart. He even missed fts in the final secs of a vital game. He was not the only problem but failed to do anything. Anything. Lewis could not scorer but he checked kg. What did VC do? he got pucked by paul and allen. They passed him around like a chairleader. I thought jj had a bigger impact and should have started; that speaks volumes.

Magic going in for Chris Paul

As to whether New Orleans is considering, that is up in the air (not that horrible Clooney movie - what a downer...) Up In The Air was a great movie, but what do I know? I've been getting owned by the Futurama Fan Club (all four of them) in the Off Topic section this week. I agree that up in the air was pretty good. It was different but descent. I like new story lines, its like the off season in bball. You dont know what your going to get. look at the Cs. They turned there team around with one great off season. Now it is time for us to match the right players together... We could use a superstar; Cris Paul or Bash... Give me a player please. One that will show up when it matters the most-- Deep in the playoffs. The time is now.
  14. quote: Originally posted by O-dub:Actually JD, I see the Magic regressing in the regular season but still making the playoffs. A season of more mediocre, flukes, and BS like we get every single season. If the Orlando Magic miraculously receive a first tier all-star, who knows. if the second best record in the league is mediocre, than i am missing something... We have done great the past 2 years. A top 4 team in the league is not bad. I do want a ring but I not going to talk like we have a bad team that plays mediocre.
