With the recent availability of apps such as TVUPlayer (link) and Sopcast (link) and their ability to broadcast TV channels over the internet at what are usually watchable quality levels, the availability of NBA games and, more specifically, Magic games has increased.

In an effort move all such streaming TV-related discussion into a single thread, I've created this thread. Hopefully this can help keep people informed of where and when to catch their NBA games online and also cut down on the large number of threads created to discuss these viewing options.

Please note that you generally need a highspeed connection to access these feeds. Also note that channels on TVUPlayer and Sopcast can regularly appear and disappear at the discretion of the kind individuals hosting them.

My View:

The Magic have the capability to win this game if they make passing contagious. As for the rest of the selfish players on the court in the fourth who rarely play, they still need to continue to be benched until they learn their lesson.

Having shut out two teams in the last 2 games, it gives a false confidence that a team can win any game without even trying. I'm expecting the Magic to ease up and not contribute the effort and energy to win this game. These players know that its their time and the Magic are being called out by the 7th playoff spot.

The only hope right now is that we snatch this win tonight. The Magic are in a desperate attempt to make the playoffs right now and I hope everyone will be watching or in the chat room with me......remember that "I'm Asking For 'Five' More Chat Rallies"

This game just got even bigger. The Pacers lost tonight, so a win tomorrow and we'll basically be rolling. A win tomorrow against the Pistons and a loss for Indiana will basically secure us the spot. Although they do play the lottery bound, season tanking bucks tomorrow.

We HAVE to WIN!

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- If they must report back here in 10 days or so for playoff duty, the Orlando Magic want to let the Detroit Pistons know tonight that they won't be returning disguised as a first-round bye.

"It's a potential playoff series and we have to come out with a mind-frame like we're delivering a message to these guys," point guard Jameer Nelson said.

The Pistons might have seriously braced for such a message if the Magic had charged in with a little more meat on their record.

Instead, the Magic are seemingly trying to convince the Pistons overnight -- if not themselves -- that they are an immediate threat to Detroit's postseason prosperity.

Pay no attention, the Magic (36-41) seem to be saying, to how they've been desperately scrambling to merely make the playoffs. Just ignore, if you will, what happened the previous 77 games of their season, especially those three losses to the Pistons (50-27).

"It's going to be a different atmosphere in the playoffs, but we want to come in and show them we're not going to back down," center Dwight Howard said.

Most of these Pistons, however, have been through the fire as an NBA champion. You might say they can spot a sheep in wolf's clothing, too.

The game obviously has more meaning to the Magic, for no other reason than they must treat it like a qualifier.

They are No. 8 in the Eastern Conference postseason race and would meet the No. 1 Pistons in the opening round if the teams maintained their positions, but the Magic need to keep winning just to hold off the No. 9 Indiana Pacers.

The Magic are coming off lopsided victories against the Memphis Grizzlies last Saturday and the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night -- teams decimated by injuries. They probably shouldn't read too much into that as they prepare for the Pistons.

"We have to realize that the last two games were against teams that were not at full strength," shooting guard Grant Hill said.

"We can't get a false sense of security. We'll get a test against Detroit."

The Magic will be reminded again what they could be up against in a Motown playoff matchup.

The Pistons are far more experienced and tough-minded, led by Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace.

They have an edge in all starting positions except center (Howard vs. Chris Webber) and have several players they can go to at the end of games. And they also will enjoy home-court advantage, even though they have struggled at The Palace this season (24-14).

Detroit probably isn't as stout defensively after losing free-agent center Ben Wallace, whose spot is being manned by Webber, the creaky veteran.

While the Magic have improved defensively, the most glaring difference between the teams is this: The Pistons commit the fewest turnovers in the NBA per game while the Magic (and the New York Knicks) commit the most.

So this game tonight amounts to a dry run for the Magic more than a statement game. Magic graybeard Tony Battie is a realist, bowing to the Pistons' power in the postseason.

"Their track record speaks for itself. It will be a fight, but they're a championship-calibre team. We're a young team just scratching the surface," he said.

"No matter what, no matter how it would go, it would be good for us. It can't do anything but help us build on what we're trying to do."

Scouting Report ;

WHERE: Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, Mich.

RECORDS: Magic 36-41; Pistons 50-27.

BROADCAST: TV -- Ch. 65 (WRBW), ESPN; Radio -- 580 AM (WDBO); Spanish language: 1030 AM (WONQ).

MAGIC UPDATE: Orlando is hanging onto the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Its game against the No. 1 Pistons could be a postseason preview. The Magic are 0-3 against the Pistons this season. . . . The Magic have a two-game winning streak after victories over the Memphis Grizzlies and the Milwaukee Bucks. . . . Their game against the Pistons marks the second return for F Darko Milicic and PG Carlos Arroyo, who were traded from Detroit to Orlando last season. SG Grant Hill was a six-time all-star in Detroit before opting out as a free agent to sign with the Magic in 2000.

PISTONS UPDATE: Detroit is leading the Central Division and already has clinched a playoff spot. . . . The Pistons won their 50th game of the season Monday night, beating the New York Knicks. . . . Detroit lost C Ben Wallace to free agency over the summer (to Chicago) but essentially replaced him in mid-January by signing C-F Chris Webber, who was released by the Philadelphia 76ers. . . . The Pistons have beaten the Magic 94-89 and 87-83 in Orlando and 110-88 at Auburn Hill.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: While the game might not have significance for Detroit, the Magic would like to show the Pistons they could be competitive if they meet in the postseason. The Pistons are strong where the Magic are weak -- in experience and taking care of the ball. There's pressure on Jameer Nelson to defend Chauncey Billups and Hill to hold down Rip Hamilton. Orlando's advantages should be with Dwight Howard and the second unit.

Pre-game notes ;

By ANTHONY GIORNALISTA, STATS Senior Writer

The Detroit Pistons need one win to secure the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. It will likely take a lot more than that for the Orlando Magic to secure a postseason spot.

The Pistons look to wrap up home-court advantage throughout the East playoffs Wednesday night as they try for a season series sweep of the Orlando Magic.

Detroit (50-27) needs one win or a Chicago loss to clinch home-court advantage throughout the conference playoffs. The Bulls host Charlotte on Friday night.

The Pistons beat New York 91-83 on Monday night, giving them 50 wins in a franchise-record sixth straight season - one more than their stretch from 1986-91.

"Fifty wins is not something that is easy to go by. It's not something you just pluck out," Detroit coach Flip Saunders said. "Teams that are at 30 are dying to get to 50. That's kind of become our norm."

The Pistons will try to complete their first sweep of the Magic (36-41) since winning all four meetings in 1991-92. Detroit is 3-0 against Orlando this season, holding the Magic to 86.7 points per game.

In the last meeting, the Magic shot 39.4 percent and lost 94-89 on Feb. 23 at Orlando in the finale of a home-and-home series.

The Pistons have won five in a row at home against the Magic since an 87-86 defeat on Feb. 22, 2004. That doesn't bode well for Orlando, which is in a tight race with three teams for the final two playoff spots in the East. (The Magic will be tied for seventh place if New Jersey loses tonight.)

Detroit has won five of six overall, holding opponents under 90 points in each victory.

Chauncey Billups scored 22 points and Richard Hamilton added 19 in the victory over the Knicks. Billups is averaging 25.3 points while shooting 57.7 percent in his last four games against the Magic.

Rasheed Wallace was back in Detroit's starting lineup after coming off the bench in a win over Cleveland on Sunday, and recorded six points and six rebounds in 28 minutes against New York. The Pistons want to limit Wallace's workload because of a hyperextended finger on his left (non-shooting) hand.

Orlando equaled its best shooting performance of the season Monday night, making 62.5 percent of its shots from the floor in a 117-94 victory over Milwaukee. The Magic also shot 62.5 percent in a Feb. 2 victory over New Jersey.

Orlando is on its best two-game offensive run this season, having shot 58.2 percent in a 116-89 win over Memphis on Saturday night. That's due in part to Hedo Turkoglu, who's averaging 25.6 points while shooting 62.8 percent (27-for-43) in his last three games. He had 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting Monday.

"Getting ready for the playoffs, you've got to have guys on the perimeter that knock down those shots," said Magic forward Dwight Howard, averaging 23.7 points and shooting 62.5 percent in three games against Detroit this season.

Team Comparison

Team Record Standings PF PA Road/Home Streak L10

Orlando 36-41 3rd Southeast / 8th East 94.7 94.5 Road 13-25 Won 2 6-4

Detroit 50-27 1st Central / 1st East 96.1 91.8 Home 24-14 Won 2 7-3

Orlando Notes

Apr 10 Orlando is trying to earn its first playoff appearance since the 2002-03 seasonThe win over the Bucks on Monday marked the first time the Magic has won at the Bradley Center in the team's last eight visits to Milwaukee. The team's last win at Milwaukee came on 1/28/03. The Magic are 2-15 in their last 17 visits to Milwaukee and are 9-15 since the All-Star breakOrlando outscored the Bucks in the paint, 68-30.

st 04-10-07 1:25 et

Detroit Notes

Apr 10 Detroit has won 50 games in six straight seasons, which is the longest stretch in franchise history. The Pistons had five straight 50-win seasons from 1986-91 but only did it once in the next 10 seasons. "Fifty wins is not something that is easy to go by," Detroit coach Flip Saunders said. "It's not something you just pluck out. Teams that are at 30 are dying to get to 50. That's kind of become our norm." ... F Rasheed Wallace returned to the starting lineup after playing 22 minutes off the bench Sunday vs. Cleveland. Wallace made his appearance as a reserve because he had been nursing a finger injury. ... F Antonio McDyess, who prefers being a reserve, scored 13 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season.
