SOME STREAMING OPTIONS;

quote:

With the recent availability of apps such as TVUPlayer (link) and Sopcast (link) and their ability to broadcast TV channels over the internet at what are usually watchable quality levels, the availability of NBA games and, more specifically, Magic games has increased.

In an effort move all such streaming TV-related discussion into a single thread, I've created this thread. Hopefully this can help keep people informed of where and when to catch their NBA games online and also cut down on the large number of threads created to discuss these viewing options.

Please note that you generally need a highspeed connection to access these feeds. Also note that channels on TVUPlayer and Sopcast can regularly appear and disappear at the discretion of the kind individuals hosting them.

TVUPlayer

Relevant channels:

Sopcast

On Sopcast you are more likely to find feeds related to specific events (i.e. games). You will often find games that are broadcast on FSN being shown through this app.

What could have been a 4 game a 4 game winning streak was cut short by one costly call that continues to linger in my thoughts. On the plus side, at least the Orlando Magic are winning again.

As known by many on this Orlando Magic Zone Forum, the Magic play down to the competition at times however for some odd reason, I'm not expecting that type of false effort from the Magic today.

Dwight and Darko ripped and obliterated Kevin Garnett and his teammates in that early game in the season in which this team was on fire. We had the lead and the Magic did not let them back into the game.

Orlando Magic confidence is sort of optimistic currently so expect the unexpected such as Carlos scoring 50pts, Redick hitting 9 threes, Trevor launching from beyond the arc, and someone posterized by Garrity.

KG had 22 and 20 last night against the Heat. Hopefully Dwight can break out of this mini slump, cut down on the T.O.'s, and play like he usually does against the 'Wolves.

Game Preveiw ;

By AMY JO WALKER, STATS Writer

The Orlando Magic haven't been getting many points from leading scorer Dwight Howard lately, but that may help them gain ground in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

The Magic look to continue their recent success with a balanced attack when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

Orlando (34-39) is trying to reach the playoffs for the first time in four seasons and is battling New Jersey for one of the final two spots in the Eastern Conference race. Indiana and New York Knicks are just outside the playoff picture, though, with less than three weeks remaining in the regular season.

The Magic were a dismal 9-24 from Jan. 12-March 21, but have since won three of four including a 95-87 victory over the Pacers on Friday.

"That's a good win for us obviously with the situation in the standings," Magic coach Brian Hill said. "Obviously it just puts that much more importance on every game as we move forward here."

Howard is averaging 17.6 points this season, but that's dropped to 10.5 over the last four games along with 13.0 rebounds. He was held to 10 points and eight rebounds Friday, while committing seven of Orlando's 24 turnovers.

"It just has to stop," Hill said about the team's giveaways. "Dwight had seven of them. How many walks did we have tonight? We had at least four walks, four or five walks."

Grant Hill had just one turnover and stepped up with 11 of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter and hit 14 of 16 from the free-throw line in the win. He's trying to score 20 or more points in three straight games for only the second time this season and is averaging 22.9 points in 15 career meetings with the Timberwolves -- his second-best mark versus any opponent.

Hedo Turkoglu also has stepped up with Howard struggling by averaging 14.8 points over the last four games and reserve Trevor Ariza scored 17 points Friday, including seven in a 1:35 fourth-quarter span.

Howard led the Magic to a 109-98 win over the Timberwolves (30-42) in their only meeting this season on Nov. 11, tallying 21 points and 22 rebounds.

Kevin Garnett recorded 28 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota in that game, and had another dominant showing Friday, but it wasn't enough as the Timberwolves fell 92-77 to Miami. Garnett had 22 points and 20 rebounds in the loss while Mark Blount added 18 points for Minnesota, which shot just 36.9 percent (31-for-84) from the field, including 2 of 18 from 3-point range.

"Everything was an exhaustion with whoever caught it - I am going to exhaust my play first," said Minnesota coach Randy Wittman, whose team is trying to avoid a fourth straight loss. "They are the best in the league in taking away your first option and the strong side. If you don't get the ball moved to the weak side, you are going to struggle like we did."

Minnesota has struggled on the road, losing 13 of its last 14 while going 10-27 overall. The Timberwolves likely will miss the playoffs for the third straight season as they're 13th in the Western Conference.

The Magic are 22-14 at home and going for their first three-game winning streak there since a four-game run Dec. 30-Jan. 7.

Team Comparison

Team Record Standings PF PA Road/Home Streak L10

Minnesota 30-42 4th Northwest / 13th West 95.9 98.6 Road 10-27 Lost 3 3-7

Orlando 34-39 3rd Southeast / 7th East 93.8 94.2 Home 22-14 Won 1 5-5

Minnesota Notes

Mar 31 With Friday's loss, the Timberwolves have the identical record they had last year (30-42) ... The club has only won one game by 20 points or more this year ... Minnesota has lost nine of their last 11 games and 16 of their last 20 ... F Kevin Garnett has led the club in rebounding this year in every game except five ... The Wolves are 6-26 this year when being outshot.

Orlando Notes

Mar 31 The Magic's bench outscored Indiana's reserves, 37-22. ... F Grant Hill's 22 points on Friday marked the 14th time this season he has lead the club in scoring. ... F-C Tony Battie finished one point shy from a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. ... Orlando has played in front of 21 sold out games this season, surpassing last years total of 10.

WHERE: Amway Arena.

RECORDS: Magic 34-39, T'wolves 30-42.

BROADCASTS: TV -- Sun Sports; Radio -- 580 AM (WDBO); Spanish language: 1030 AM (WONQ).

MAGIC UPDATE: Orlando, coming off a critical victory against the Indiana Pacers Friday night, are No. 7 in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The New Jersey Nets are No. 8. . . . SG Grant Hill gave the Magic some leadership against the Pacers, scoring 22 points and helping an offense that bogged down. F Trevor Ariza led a bench effort that produced 37 points. . . . The Magic face the Toronto Raptors at Amway Arena on Wednesday.

TIMBERWOLVES UPDATE: Minnesota has had another disappointing season, again wasting the talents of F Kevin Garnett. The club fired Dwane Casey as coach in late January when it was 20-20 and promoted former Magic assistant Randy Wittman. Since then, the Timberwolves have gone 10-22. . . . Garnett, always the subject of trade rumors, leads the team in scoring (22.8) and rebounding (12.8). G Ricky Davis averages 21.1 ppg.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Dwight Howard vs. Kevin Garnett. Howard did a terrific job on Pacers star Jermaine O'Neal and will have to raise his game against his boyhood idol. Like the Magic, the Timberwolves are turnover-plagued, but they have firepower. Brian Hill will have to convince his inconsistent team that this game is as important as any have been against their East playoff rivals. It's the second game in a four-game homestretch and another victory could enhance the Magic's postseason position and provide a buffer when they hit the road for three games starting April 9.
