Poll:More important... Getting to .500 or making the playoffs

What would u as Magic fans prefer, that the Magic make the playoffs, or get to .500?

Well if we made it to .500 we would get in the playoffs easily. There's no way we finish 9-3 to get there so i'd be content with just making the playoffs. the 7th and 8th seeds with be below .500 anyway.

.500 is like many other numbers in sports that get too much attention. They're just a number. A .300 batter in beseball, .299 is just as good. A 20 game winner, 19 is about the same.

 

40-44 or 41-43 or 42-42 or 43-41 describe the same team. Wins about as many as it loses.

 

Getting our kids some playoff experience, priceless. Even if we get swept. It will save us getting swept next year.

The bottom half of the east has be bad for years, so it doesn't bother me. Playoff experience would be great for this team. Even if we did get to .500 it's not like we would get out of the first round anyway.

.500 simply defines you won as much as u loss.....

 

If we lose more then we win, that begs the question then, does a team that loses more then it wins be allowed the right to go and participate in the after season festivities, should a student whom has 5 f's but one A be allowed on the honor roll because he is simply the same student whether he has A's or F's

A great post. I agree. Playoffs for this team is all that matters. It's not like we've been in the playoffs for the last few years and are taking a nose dive. We would be moving up!

The NBA decided to leave honor out of making the playoffs years ago when it expanded the playoffs to 8 teams per conference. Since then, and it has been awhile, the eight seed has always been a mediocre team. Some have surprised in the playoffs, but mediocre regular season records make up the majority of eight seeds.

 

I respect beseball because it is the only major sport that requires excellence to reach the playoffs.

 

Reaching the playoffs with a young team is no shame. Look at Chicago last year. It is critical that we make the playoffs if we fancy ourselves as an up a coming team.

The St.Louis Cardinals went 83-79 last year and they won the world series. What's the difference between 83-79 and 79-83? Not much...

 

You're missing the point with this, it's not a matter of if we're worth a not, it's all about the experience our guys will gain if we get there. Guys like Dwight,Jameer,Trevor,JJ, and Travis have never been to the playoffs, getting them would help us out imensely next year.

Who says we wouldn't deserve it? If our record is good enough to get a 7th or 8th seed then the the guys deserve to make the playoffs. I'm not crazy over how this season has turned out but the guys need the playoff experience and that is whats important IMO.
