We wanted Mike Conley a decade ago...and we shouldn't get him at the end of his career. I mean, trading for Conley made sense at the deadline. Trading for Conley now doesn't make sense unless Fultz doesn't play. It's kind of difficult to do anything dramatic until we figure out what Fultz is. Perhaps a vet place holder with a year or two left on his deal possibly swapping the Moz contract.

We have a vet placeholder on the roster already. If Fultz hasn't flashed something by the end of December we can go into trade season looking for a more substantial move. Magicpassion 4 Report post Posted May 9, 2019 It seems like they’re playing the long game with Fultz, not sure December would be adequate time.

If 35 games into his third year he hasn't shown flashes we can trade for a long term starting point guard and develop Fultz on the bench. Not expecting him to be a star, just the point guard equivalent of Isaac this past year.

In fact one of the writers quoted that exact sentiment today.

We'll know pretty quickly if Fultz is worth investing big minutes in (for at least the next couple of years) or if we'll need to trade for a starter.
