Magic vs Knicks

Recommended Posts

Isn't this one of what DOM used to call logical fallacies?

DOM found many ways to insult people he didn't agree with. The crux of his argument was that Henny was a great GM and the Magic were doing everything right in this rebuild. The test of time hasn't treated him well.

Our team runs and guns well, especially Payton, AG and Ross, but it falls flat in a true half court offense. I love Ross' feel for the game, but he jacks up some bad shots. Meanwhile, AG's three ball is not good, though I think he needs to keep taking them to try and improve. Then we all know Payton is a below average three point shooter. Looking ahead, I have zero idea what the future holds.

When Ross's shots aren't falling he doesn't get to the line. He needs to start doing that.

Something he employed often.

I'd like Fultz too but there's no way he'd lead us to the playoffs with this team next year. We've had good pg play since the ASB and are still at a 33% win rate despite being in one of the easiest SOS stretches of the season. Our problems are much deeper than what A rookie can provide save Shaq/Lebron etc.

He doesn't have to lead us anywhere. That's the point. Replacing Augustin and green with replacement level players nets us several more wins this year. So whether you have Payton starting still and a rookie as your back-up point guard or a rookie that's good enough to push Payton to the bench in year 1 you're significantly upgrading that back-up point guard spot.

This is very true... DOM and I went at it round after round about Rob, I haven't seen him much anymore, especially on the threads where I rip Rob even more.

I agree with your assessment of our open court style vs. our difficulty in the half court. It's cost us the last two games, when teams start to dig in and shut down that open court style. It makes me wonder if Biz should start, with Vuc coming in off the bench and finishing games.

I agree. Vucevic is a behemoth that hurts team offense even though he gets his numbers and is mediocre at best on the defensive end.

Much better teams like Charlotte are struggling to make the playoffs. The East isn't as bad as people say it is.

We need to fix PG and C to contend for the playoffs

Biz should never start unless you have some one who can cover his lack of points and those much needed paint possessions during crunch time.

We haven't had any trouble scoring in the first three quarters of the last two games, thus why I suggested Biz starting and Vuc finishing once the game bogs down late in games.

so the issue looks to be pace related.

in the first quarter we had a 95.92 pace

second 98.8

third 102.5

fourth 88.5

game slows down, offense sucks.

We need to figure out the following:

1. can we keep up that pace for 4 quarters

2. is the pace thing something the other team is doing to us or is it self inflicted? If self inflicted is it habit or fatigue? if it's the other team can we scheme around it or do we need to adapt to find a better offense as the fourth quarter slows down.
