magicdoc1 261 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 We traded Marble and a 2020 2nd rounder to the Clippers for CJ Wilcox and cash, per Josh Robbins Well.. That still doesnt make sense. Wilcox has a broken hand and will be undergoing surgery soon. He is out likely for the season. How is he contract situation? He likely will be waived. Why give a second round?? Soul Bro 1,422 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 David Aldridge on CJ Wilcox as a draft prospect in 2014: Washington's C.J. Wilcox is one of the best perimeter shooters available. After opting to return for his senior season, Wilcox earned second team all-Pac 12 honors, led the team in scoring for a second straight season and finished second on the school's all-time scoring list. 'I think he's a lock 10-year pro, because he's a prototypical two,' a college head coach said. 'He's a really good shooter, probably the best in the league ... the last three years, including the first part of this year, I thought he was the best guard in the league. Sneaky athlete. He's probably a little bit better at everything than you think he is. It's pure. It's pure. Like the nets may not move sometimes.' Wilcox needs to show some bounce and that he can put the ball on the floor better in his pre-Draft workouts. Scouts don't think he's capable of carrying a team offensively given he's more of a catch and shoot player, but they also think he also suffered by not having the kind of teammates around him this season to take pressure off of him. 'Teams would get on him and eliminate his perimeter shooting,' one scout said. Teams also think Wilcox is a high-character guy who "wasn't as selfish as some would want him to be," as another scout said. "When they had Tony Wroten (taken by Memphis in the first round in 2012), he just kind of allowed Tony to do his thing, never bickered with him." http://www.nba.com/n...raft/index.html
Soul Bro 1,422 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 Well.. That still doesnt make sense. Wilcox has a broken hand and will be undergoing surgery soon. He is out likely for the season. How is he contract situation? He likely will be waived. Why give a second round?? Here you go: Clippers reserve shooting guard C.J. Wilcox broke his right hand during the team’s opening summer league game and is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday. He’s expected to resume basketball activities in four to six weeks and be fully recovered in time for training camp. Wilcox, 25, appeared in 23 games last season, averaging 3.0 points in only 7.3 minutes per game while making 39.1% of his three-pointers. He played well when given a few opportunities to play more extensively late in the season, sparking a near-comeback victory over the Golden State Warriors. Wilcox has one more guaranteed season on his contract for $1.2 million. The Clippers hold a team option for $2.1 million in the 2017-18 season. http://www.latimes.c...snap-story.html

Mack1085 57 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 It's a fine move. Another veteran shooter on a contract with a team option and if we choose to keep him in 2017-2018 it's a very reasonable deal given what FA are getting on the open market. I think we have had two 2nd round picks in 2020 as well, so not bad.

Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 So we got tired of marble getting a decent chance to produce yet missing shots and traded him for a guy who might not be an nba player but can at least shoot. That's about all you can hope for in a deal like this.
