Millsap actually employs a better offensive rating despite significantly lower usage. Harris scored more points per game barely, but less if you factor in equal playing time-even if you disregard usage Millsap is still a better scorer and few would attempt to suggest otherwise. They both shot 36% from three last year, but 43% of Harris' were from the corner, compared to 22% for Millsap. What that means is that Millsap is a greater threat from anywhere beyond the three point line-a point that shouldn't be understated when you have drive and dish guards. Furthermore, 28% of Harris' fg's came within two feet of the basket, which is a rather paltry number considering he was supposed to be someone who could use his size to take advantage of other players. Millsap exhibited a respectable 38% from the same distance. So, in addition to being a better scorer and better three point shooter, he is also more mobile-being more efficient at the rack and behind the three point line. Don't get me started on defensive metrics comparing the two...

So, Millsap is a major upgrade. Harris would like to be Millsap when he grows up.

It's an upgrade depending on the team you are building. Harris offers a ton of value for a 22 year old which is why he will get a max offer.

His weakness is his defense, but his strength is his scoring which includes an improving 3 point % and a very underrated post game. If you watched the Magic a lot you would notice he was barely used there. In the right scheme he will be a very dangerous inside out player.

To say Millsap is a better 3 point shooter is a biased view. Not true, and sample size is not great. He is a developing 3 point shooter just like Harris, who shot the same %.

Many would attempt to say a 22 year old averaging 17 ppg will most likely be a better scorer than a guy in his prime averaging less, so you are biased and incorrect there as well.

Millsap is a huge score for the Magic because we were much too young out there. We desperately needed a vet starter with playoff experience and having some all star games doesnt hurt either. I do prefer Millsap as a true 4 for us, as Harris is a tweener. I believe the team is better with Millsap. But a lot of that is due to T12 being a rather young player who has lots of development left in him.

Gary from the Boston globe has about as much of an idea of what the magic will do as Payton4thewin of the true blue nation.

Just guessing

Yeah there was literally nothing of substance in that mini article. All speculation/educated guessing

Someone should post one of those pics where it shows what % each player shot from different areas of the floor.

Wouldn't matter. I mean think about ATL's scheme compared to ours. Harris could flourish with those types of looks. He didn't get nearly the same amount quality looks with us.

If Matthews goes to TOR we are looking at an insane small ball front court that is loaded with shooters. Pretty fascinating lineup potential really.

@MikeAScotto

Paul Millsap is leaning towards signing with the Atlanta Hawks, a league source tells Sheridan Hoops.

@AlexKennedy

@MikeAScotto I've heard the same.

Not surprised, on the bright side, at least Magic will not be paying him $20 million a year so we use that $20 million to spend on Tobias?
