2013 - 2014 Regular Season Thread

Guys, nobody wanted to give up an asset of any kind to get a player of Big Baby's caliber on a bad contract. In fact, to get anything in return for him WE would have needed to sweeten the deal. The Wiz had to throw in a 2nd round pick to get somebody to TAKE Eric Maynor off their hands, and he makes 1/3 of the money Davis does.

Think of it this way -- the way we feel about Big Baby (i.e., please get him as far away from our team as possible) is the exact same way other teams feel about him. GMs were not going to line up to give away assets for the guy.

Our only real chance of trading him was shipping him off with Afflalo. But that may have hurt the return we got so it was probably best to just cut ties with BBD now.

can't it be watched on line?

BTW, ESPN’s insider states that The Orlando Magic and forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis have been at odds with each other for a while; asks whether the Clippers could land BBD; and expressed that the situation represents a big chance for Tobias …

Pretty sure the requirement is 12.

I think a couple years ago they changed it to 13. You can get by with 12 if you have a 13th guy that is inactive.

Saw this on twitter earlier today too:

Tonight on 'Drive Time' we'll have Rob Hennigan on to discuss trade deadline and Big Baby situation, also how will Orl fill roster spot.

An NBA team can have a maximum of 15 players on its roster during a season (and up to 20 during the offseason). A team may have 12 or 13 players on its active roster, although it can drop to 11 for up to two weeks at a time. They must suit-up at least eight players for every game. Any remaining players must be on the team's Inactive List, and are ineligible to play in games. A minimum of zero players (if the team has 13 active players) or one (if the team has 12 active players) must be on the team's Inactive List, although a team with 12 active players can drop to zero for up to two weeks at a time.

As @TheCAJasonSmith noted earlier, the agent for F Adonis Thomas tells the O-Sent the Magic will sign Thomas to a 10-day

Adonis Thomas (6-6/232) will sign on Monday and be available to play Tues. in D.C., his agent said.
