the notorious S.A.C. 89 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 Man, if people can't get excited about this, i don't know what else to tell them. No more MLE Duhon/Pietrus/Barnes/Q signings. We're always going to have young, surprising players that will produce just as well as vets, for fraction of the cost. The new CBA will hamper teams that don't have their scouting in line. Glad we're tightening up! The problem wasnt using max dollars every year. The problem was the homework NOT done by the guy who signed the player and the guy who scouted the draft picks (or didnt scout them at all to be more accurate). Could you imagine what a real gm would have done with Dwights rookie contract and Jameers rookie deals on the books and little else. We could have been OKC on steroids if it had been astutely managed. Instead we had a guy with the intelligence of a rotted log pulling the strings and stroking the checks. jec 427 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 The 2009 playoffs were the most enjoyment I've gotten watching any team ever. That year was so awesome. That's something Lakers fans will never understand.
Miller4Prez66 545 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 That year was so awesome. That's something Lakers fans will never understand. It was a complete roller coaster. Our first playoff game we blew a comfy lead to have Iggy nail a buzzer beater on us and almost fell down 3-1 to Sixers if it weren't for Hedo's clutch three in Game 4. Then you had the up and down Celtics series that included BBD's buzzer beater at the O-Rena while running into a little kid, finally ending with the Magic being the first team to overcome 3-2 and beat the Celtics. The Cavs series was just epic, all the talking heads gave us no shot and we sent the King home crying. I almost didn't care that we lost the Finals, it was just such a fun ride leading up to it. On another note, I'm not sure if this was posted but Harkless said on twitter he is wearing #21. Those are some might big shoes to fill after the last guy to wear that here. :shard:
Mauro Pedrosa 1,033 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 I think this thread's title should be changed, no need for the (Non-Howard) part
Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 That year was so awesome. That's something Lakers fans will never understand. Seriously, that's why winning a title isn't everything. I can't imagine being a miami heat fan is all that awesome. You won a championship, and that's great, its probably still worth it and everything, but the winning feeling must be so fleeting. and its not like I don't know what wining a championship feels like, I watched the giants win two superbowls, uconn win three championships. It is just so much better when you get the full experience, not quick bulks a team. My all time favorite sports seasons 1. Magic in 2009 2. Giants 2007 3. Kemba walker pushing uconn 4. Giants last season. 5. 1998 uconn (not the championship season, this was probably my first sports moment)
Mauro Pedrosa 1,033 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 I hate people that are only fans when the team lands someone good. Like, how many Bulls fans did you see before Rose's MVP season? Same for Heat fans
D12isilluminati 1 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 Did anyone hear the SVG interview today on ESPN? He said he wasnt upset with Dwight and didnt blame him for wanting out. He said Management was a total disaster and did not handle things properly at all. I think it was pretty blunt and he seemed to be pointing the finger to Otis and Martins as being the issue....IF anyone really cares any more. Stan never seemed to pull punches so Ill take it as factual. You really don't think bitterness towards Alex Martins might have anything to do with this? I don't think its Otis he was talking about as they were good friends and Otis "followed" Svg out the door when he was fired.
CAI 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2012 I can't wait for our roster to be settled for the next season and see Harrington as the first to be moved. Thoughts on these trades? I'm assuming we still want to create cap space and aren't looking to be too great, while trying to add a backup point. If you didn't like the dwight trade you won't like any of these. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8k8b7mt http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8hpwruu http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8ughtbq http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8kvz5f8 http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=c6mywu2
