The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Recommended Posts

Chris Broussard on ESPN right now said Orlando panicked and made this move. Said Houston had a better deal on the table from his sources.

The picks Orlando are getting are garbage.

The Toronto pick that Houston has is better than any that will be recieved in this trade.

agree, so what's happening ? why we reject a better offer fm houston ?

Hahaha @Shaq just tweeted "Did Orlando get enough in the trade?". Really????!!!! They could have gotten a bag of poop and it would have been more than your deal.. Wow this guy is blind!

Seriously, enough with the Houston stuff. If that deal was all that, we would've done it. Dwight and his people have made it well known they want NOTHING to do with Houston and said they wouldn't even consider signing a deal there. Houston was giving up nothing. They probably offered something like Patterson, one pick and Kevin Martin at best.

Don't fret Magic fans. There's a reason to the madness:

Remember: Mediocrity will make us "Houston" and "Denver" -- stuck in the middle. OKC got really bad before they got really good. Hennigan helped orchestrate that and he is orchestrating this. Plus, Harkless is a prospect.

Except we received no lottery picks

I don't know why people are still crying about how terrible this trade is. granted not the best trade we were hoping to receive but if this Houston trade that everyone is ranting and raving about how much better it was than this, why didn't we pull the trigger? Easy, because it wasn't what it was rumored to be. Houston's trade was probably s***.

Well, folks, that's why Shaq wasn't hired as Orlando GM. He is shortsighted. Give Hennigan a chance to rebuild. We would not compete with the likes of Miami or OKC for at least a couple more years anyway. This trades does several things for our team:

1) Clear cap space for 2014

2) Gives us picks

3) Gives us flexibility rather quickly

4) Allows us to shoot for the bottom next season. Getting Bynum or even Gasol in this trade would make us somewhat relevant enough not to bottom out. Hennigan is taking us as low as we can go, only to give us the opportunity to hit the lottery, while giving us more pics, more cap space, and a young prospect in Harkless. This is the OKC model.

Well, we will now that we're tanking! The Houston trade would not have cleared enough space and would have given us "better" players to not tank and stay "mediocre" so do speak. Plus, not really sure if the Houston trade was all that good given Howard said he would not extend with them. Morey may have stopped short on the deal. Also, let's wait on the real trade. Rumors have it Duhon is included. Anything that will get Duhon out of our hands is good IMHO.
