From Schmitz article: "A Magic official told me that the franchise would not fire Smith if that was a condition Howard demanded before he re-signed. He can become a free agent after the season."

 

There cannot be anyone on this board, or the planet, that agrees with that move, right?

 

I don't buy that quote at all, if it came down to it next summer and Dwight said fire Otis and I will resign, there is no way in hell they say, "nope you can go somewhere else if you don't like Otis".

 

All time great player or a GM hmmmm tough call.
