Well, I hate to be the one to tell you all this, but Kyler's plan to trade for Miller and then package Miller with filler for Smith doesn't work, because a player received in a trade can't be packaged in a second trade for, I think, 90 days.

So any trade we made of Miller after we picked him up would have to be JUST Miller for someone else.

Kyler's idea won't work under the CAP.

Now, you kids need to get off my lawn!

Wasn't Q Rich traded 3 times a couple off seasons ago?

So even if he is packaged with a pick we have to wait? Or with Batum?

Packaged with a pick? No.

He only can't have his salary combined with that of other players to take on a more expensive player.

And I was wrong earlier; it's 60 days, not 90.

Yup. Traded from New York to Memphis, from Memphis to the Clippers, from the Clippers to Minnestoa and then the T-Wolves dealt him to Miami.

June 25, 2009: Traded by the New York Knickerbockers with cash to the Memphis Grizzlies for Darko Milicic.

July 17, 2009: Traded by the Memphis Grizzlies to the Los Angeles Clippers for Zach Randolph.

July 20, 2009: Traded by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Mark Madsen, Craig Smith and Sebastian Telfair.

August 13, 2009: Traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Miami Heat for Mark Blount.

In every one of those trades, he wasn't part of a package going out, so the rule didn't apply.

Got ya. I'm not a huge CBA guru, so I just stay out of those conversations

A friend of mine who has a few contacts said he heard that it may be a three team trade: The players involved are: ATL: Smith ORL: Orton/Anderson/Nelson/Duhon and for Port: Miller/Batum/Fernandez/21 there obviously has to be more players from atl to make a deal work. But just giving what I was just told.

What the...? You got a negative for that?? Dumb. Totally agree - if we grab Miller, we got him for a while. Which isn't so bad, but I think picking up Miller would be planning for next summer, not this one.
