The guitar solos in that song are incredibly smooth and laid back. I love the Allman Brothers in general, and that song is probably my favorite of everything they did. I always feel happy after hearing it.

 

Yep, they are incredible. The guitar solo ruled in classic rock. Very key ingredient to a good band from that era was a nasty guitar player.

I'd be curious to hear what people think of including someone like Bob Seger in a list like this.

 

On the one hand, "Old Time Rock And Roll" is a **** sandwich, no mayo and "Like A Rock" is pretty clearly just "That song from the Chevy truck commercials" at this point.

 

On the other hand, "Night Moves" and "Turn the Page" are the tits.

 

Then you look at his early material, and you realize he started off as, basically, the heartland equivalent of the MC5, and that's just confusing as hell.

 

So how do we rate this guy?

Segar, IMO is essential classic rock. He just has a voice that is unique and you know who is singing within 3 notes. And night moves is so tits..awesome track.
