Poll: If Warlock Was In This Year's Draft ...

Recommended Posts

Gortat is a very valuable asset. He has proven to be a great defensive center with some offensive skill. As a board, let's measure his worth based on our opinions.

Soul Bro,

I can't speak too well of next year's draft because I am not as familiar with the talent. However, if the 2005 draft was redone today, I think he would be a late lottery pick.

Here's how I would have it.

Original

Pick

4 Chris Paul New Orleans Hornets

3 Deron Williams Utah Jazz

17 Danny Granger Indiana Pacers

10 Andrew Bynum Los Angeles Lakers

30 David Lee New York Knicks

5 Raymond Felton Charlotte Bobcats

1 Andrew Bogut Milwaukee Bucks

2 Marvin Williams Atlanta Hawks

7 Charlie Villanueva Toronto Raptors

8 Channing Frye New York Knicks

21 Nate Robinson Phoenix Suns

57 Marcin Gortat Phoenix Suns

33 Brandon Bass New Orleans Hornets

6 Martell Webster Portland Trail Blazers

26 Jason Maxiell Detroit Pistons

49 Andray Blatche Washington Wizards

dont mean to hate,

but CHANNING FRYE over the Gortat

-1,

you anger Gortat

smile_gortatmad.png *** ! !

I'd say he would be 10-15, he doesnt have that much to offer offensively so,

He would be a 10ppg, 10rpg typa player

You're probably right. I rushed through it so I'm not too concerned with different opinions on the order. But, yeah, I would pick Gortat over Channing.

En Fuego, I actually would rank the following big men in the following order. Who ever goes above, below or in between them depends on the team and their needs etc. But I would argue (numbers do not reflect exact order of choice in the draft only who would go first etc):

1. Gortat - (Would be a monster next to Gasol right now)

2. Bynum

3. Bogut

En Fuego, interesting stuff. Here's the thing: no one has any idea how Gortat could be as a starter. Given the opportunity, I could see him averaging at least 10 pts, 10 bds, and 2 bks. Plus, centers are really hard to come by. In this year's draft, I think he'd be top 5.

Gortat reminds me of Marcus Camby. Not so stellar on the offense but a potential game changer on defense.

Bottom line: Centers are very hard to come by in today's league. That should say to hold onto him, but we also have the league's best at the position who is a ripe 24 years old and is rounding into form. Gortat needs to be used as an asset.
